Does my dog know how much I love him?

I just want him to know. Every morning, I share a hard boiled egg with him. We both like the yolk the best, but I give him the larger part of it, because I want him to be happy.

Yes, dogs know by how they're treated whether they're loved, and it sounds like you treat your dog like your best friend, which is what he is.

I'm sorry people are being mean. You're dog is very cute, and I'm glad you love him. I'm sure he loves you too :)

I think all dogs know how much they are loved by their owners

Ugly dog. Should shave his butt and teach him to walk backwards.

He knows. And maybe he notices that you give him the larger part, maybe he doesn't, but he notices how you treat him, and all the things you do for him.

After we got my adult rescue girl, for the first few weeks, we weren't bonding quite as strongly as I had hoped. I was worried. It was funny, then it started to get colder out, and one day it had finally really turned into winter, and she started shivering when she was in the car with me heading to doggy daycare. So I took off my big warm coat, and draped it around her as best I could, and she stopped shivering. So every day after that, after we got to the car, I would remove my coat warmed with body heat, and put it on her, even though it made me freezing for the drive.

Suddenly, that week, it was like all of the special love and bonding happened at once. I have no idea if she understood that I was removing my own coat and snuggling her in it so she could be warm instead of me. I've always sort of felt like that may well have played a small part in things though. It's like we didn't get that special bond for weeks, and then all in one week, she officially became my baby, and me her "Mom." Maybe it was just happenstance, maybe that gesture truly made her understand but that week, she turned from the dog that was staying with us into my little baby, whom I loved more than anything, and who loved and trusted me more than anyone else (except BF who she bonded with quickly and loved the same amount.) Dog's know you love them though. It's not just an egg yolk, or just a coat, they just know for all the times you snuggle and pet, for all the times you smile when you see them.
