This may blow your mind but USUALLY what I do to evaluate cos 1.43 is I hit the buttons, in order

But

You have to make sure your calculator angle mode is in RADIANS.

Because you are evaluating cos1.43 and not cos1.43°

Students that can spell "trigonometry" can usually figure out how their calculator works, perhaps just try it and see.

set calculator to radians

input 1.43

press cos

depends on the calculator. Typically:

enter 1.43

hit cos key

answer appears as 0.1403316

rounded to 0.1403
