How do I figure out my aspirations and goals in life?
I’m 26 turning 27 in August. I work at a warehouse which I’m getting tired of. I really don’t know what I want to do in life and right now it’s as if I’m just living day by day.
It’s kind of scaring me because i realize I will be 30 in a couple years and I have no solid foundation. When people ask me what do I wanna do in life I get nervous because I clearly don’t know and I just know I don’t want to end up being an unproductive failure/loser in life.
Everything I enjoy to do at the moment requires MONEY which I don’t have a lot of. I’m basically living paycheck to paycheck right now and life just doesn’t look so positive to me at the moment and I want to change it but I don’t know how to go about it.
Any tips on figuring this type of stuff out? I always catch myself fantasizing more than actually snapping into reality and making something happen simply because I don’t know where to start.

You are starting the right way, but then you are killing off the process.
“If you don’t have a dream, you can’t have a dream come true.”
The first step is to take some quiet time to yourself, and just dream and fantasise freely about what your dream life would be. Forget about money at this stage. This stage is not about reality. We’ll come to that later. This stage is about your *dream*.
The difference between successful and unsuccessfuly people is that the successful people *allow themselves* to just dream whatever they want. They don’t kill the dream by saying “Don’t be ridiculous! That could never happen!” or “Yeah but it’ll be hard.”
Because we haven taught to kill our dreams since we were young, it helps to have some techniques.
One way is just to *pretend* you’ve got $10 million. “If I had $10 million, what would I do? What would I get, have, experience, be?”
Other way is to say “If I had a million dollars, but only one year to live, what would I do?”
Focus.
Next thing is, you need to *write down* your dream. You can use a vision board, or a scrapbook. Put in pictures of your dream life. At this stage, don’t worry about whether you now think it’s realistic or not.
Second step is, you have to write down *goals*. A goal has to be
1. specific
2. verifiable or falsifiable - so later you can tell whether you’ve achieved it or not, and
3. timed.
E.g. “I wanna make more money” is NOT a goal. Because if you review it in 10 years time, and you’ve made one cent more, you will have achieved your goal.
“I am making $100,000 a year by 31 December 2024” is a goal. It must be *written*. Notice how it’s specific, verifiable and timed?
You write goals for everything: career, money, relationships, sex, love, your emotional state, your home, and so on.
Third step is to break down your goals into action steps. You need six action steps every day. E.g. research businesses that I can start with little capital; write out characteristics of the relationship I want; write out what emotions you want to experience every day.
Each day you cross off the action steps you have completed. The uncompleted ones you transfer to the next day’s diary.
Fourth step is, each week, you make time to review your dream, add pictures or details to make it vivid to you, review your goals, write out your actions steps for next week, and monitor your progress. If something is not working, *think*, and *change*.
