Why do all these crazy people go on the weird keto diet when they could just eat lots of vegetables instead?

Keto is very faulty along with unhealthy, Keto restricts your intake of vegetables and legumes which are far more filling than high fat foods. it is crazy to say that 1lb of spinach is less filling than 1 tbsp of olive oil or 1/2OZ of macadamia nut, which is effectively what the silly keto lobby is claiming.

A lot people will swear by the newest fad and think that it works better than any other option. They do not do enough research to discover the problems with the latest fad diets, but jump on board because a celebrity or uninformed doctor promotes it.

I 100% believe you don’t need to do keto to lose weight, and that it’s likely easier to maintain after losing weight in a less intense (albeit less effective) way.

That said, why not try adopting some of the principals of keto? I.e. cut out processed sugars and **** your body doesn’t need. Cereal? Don’t need it. Pasta? Sub lentil pasta for 80% of pasta meals. Sugary packaged protein bars? Try Orgain protein powder instead, if you need the protein boost.

Whole, clean foods. Vegetables galore. Fruit is good for you! Just don’t only eat fruit. Eat tempeh, lentils, tofu, etc. Nuts and nut butters are really satiating when eaten in conjunction with carbs. But, very carefully measure them because it’s so easy to overindulge without realizing it.

    Read food labels carefully!

Small changes, everyday. Will you drop 20 pounds in a month? No, probably not. But maybe in 6 months. And then it will be so much easier to maintain, because you won’t be depriving yourself and you’ll have built healthy habits to sustain this lifestyle change.

There is essentially (or should be) no correlation between what your macronutrient distribution is and how much vegetables you eat. At least if we're talking about "green" vegetables (it's a bit less true for carrots, beetroots, peas and so on). Vegetables are about getting vitamins/minerals/fibres but have nothing to do with macronutrients (I mean their macronutrients are negligible in first approximation). And the rule should pretty much always be "eat as much vegetables as you can".

The keto diet actually includes a large quantity of vegetables. That's probably even more important than for other diets, since you have low volumes of food and no grain fibres, so that your digestion can easily get messed up if you don't increase your intake of vegetable fibres.

Moreover, the fact that you have denser food (as well as the focus on animal proteins) makes it easier to eat larger quantities of vegetables, which are difficult to digest. This is usually not a problem for people on diet but this easily becomes one for people "bulking" or even on maintenance. For the tiny population of people who use keto as a year-long lifestyle, not just when they are on diet, the keto diet can potentially allow them to keep more space in their stomach to eat more vegetables.

Because most people don't like the taste of vegetables that much, not enough to eat them constantly for weeks or months. Simple as that. And are you being facetious/ No one could eat a pound of spinach.
