Should yahoo do away with the level 7 powers?
Odd things I've seen going on at yahoo for years. It's too much and much of it is simply fickle BS. And no. I will not go away on this subject. I've complained privately, but now we should simply get louder. At least deny them access to our private data and editing options.
RE: Should yahoo do away with the level 7 powers?
My answer to self: Yes to be safe. Also the ability to block anonymous users.
RE:RE: Strangely, the anonymous level 7 who popped in ASAP when I poised the question to call me a troll, among other things, disappeared as did the answer that included weird stuff that made no sense. Kinda stuff that's been going on since the Q&A started at Yahoo. I'm an original rocketmailer who's simply fed up w/the nonsensense and it's not limited to the level 7s. A few bad apples make a great thing go sour.

What "should" be done is a long grocery list of bugs, issues, and abused features (but don't hold your breath).
What I'd like to see done with the question moving ability (which is the ONLY ability Level 7 users have over any other user of level 3 and up) is for there to be a more strict criteria to be awarded the ability, than just reaching a certain point number, AND an effective way to report abuse of the feature so that users found to be using it inappropriately would have it removed permanently (at least for the account that was abusing it).
The feature has value, but it's so heavily abused that too many users experience only the negative effects of it, and see none of the positive.

Sadly, Level 7 seems to have become an abused privilege. It' been my experience the most level 7 do not engage in such behaviors. Lately, some have taken to using it as a means of harassment. Particularly if it's a question or poster they have a personal indifference to for whatever reasons.
My experience w/the few "bad' ones is that several do indeed stalk and troll. A few have passwords or account data from other sites as some are moderators at other websites w/access to the data.

Yes, stop allowing level 7 people to move questions to unrelated categories.

The problem is not level 7 users being able to more questions. The problem is some use it to harass and abuse other members. The problem is that Verizon Media nor did Yahoo do much to prevent the misuse. At first, Yahoo would reduce a user points down to a level 6. This seems to work. You just report the violation and give the URL of the question and Yahoo reviewed it and reduced their points. This stopped and many levels 7's started moving questions without consequence.
I also agree that anonymous users should be able to be blocked by Verizon Media. But it would take time to code this change and it cost money which they do not want to waste on these sites.

The moving of questions should be taken away from them as it's being abused.

there is only ONE level-7 power, and that's moving questions to another category.
Obviously it SHOULD be taken away from those who abuse it, but it's equally obvious that the owners of the site are not willing to spend money on hiring people to do that. heck, they don't even bother to let us know whether there still is an answers-team we can report abuse to

Level 7 users do not have any access to "private data" or "editing" anything!
They _can_ move questions, but that moving of questions also appears to happen due to a badly written auto categoriser that seems to look for keywords in questions and move to a designated category.
eg. A question about rallying or something that included the phrase "hard drive" moves in to computers; sometimes questions mentioning "rock" that are nothing to do with music in the music category etc..
That's not trolls, it's some kind of dumb automation feature.
The only time I ever move a question is when it is blatantly in the wrong category, I may move it to the correct one - never out of where it should be.
Any deletions are due to several users (above either level 1 or 2, not sure which?) reporting the question or answer.
That is nothing to do with level 7 users, it's posts that many people think break the rules - which applies to about 95% of the content in some categories - all rants, chats and abusive posts.
[And remember that even answering a question that breaks the rules is itself a violation].
