The bone itself will heal in about 4 to 8 weeks depending upon your age and general health.

Expect permanent hearing loss and if it improves consider that a bonus. Also if you suffered no facial paralysis/numbing you also need to count your blessings. The nerves for hearing, balance and some facial nerves pass right through the temporal bone and frequently suffer temporary or permanent damage.

Considering the blunt force trauma which is usually necessary to fracture a temporal bone, the fact that you’re even alive and are lacking the brain damage needed to ask your question is something to be grateful for.

If you’re young then even if you have suffered permanent hearing impairment then your brain will quickly adapt so that you’re largely unaware of it. Just take far more care from now on with the hearing you still have by avoiding very loud music, especially via earbuds or headphones. Active noise-cancelling ‘buds/‘phones will allow you to hear your music clearly without loudness.

should need at least a month or more to heal fully
