    1 part___________6/7 cm = 60/7 mm = 8 4/7 mm

    4 parts__________24/7 cm = 240/7 mm= 34 2/7 mm

    2 parts__________12/7 cm = 120/7 mm = 17 1/7 mm

    1:4:2 has 1 + 4 + 2 = 7 parts.

    Each part is 1/7 x 6 = 6/7

    1 part = 6/7

    4 parts = 4 x 6/7 = 24/7 = 3 3/7

    2 parts = 2 x 6/7 = 12/7 = 1 5/7

    1 + 4 + 2 = 7 is seven parts, so one part is 6/7 cm.

    This gives us 6/7 cm, 24/7 cm, and 12/7 cm.

    x + 4x + 2x = 6

    7x = 6

    x = 6/7

    6/7 : 24/7 : 12/7
