If they're toilet trained and have no issues, why would you allow that? If your in the car and they need pee breaks, take a potty ? (Cheap nappy in potty does wonders for soaking pee!)

No, that's going backwards in your toilet training. A five-year-old is old enough to use the toilet by himself or herself.
