You can also toss in N Korea for good measure. While there is resentment of Chinese imperialism in SE Asia there is no great love for the US in this region. People have have seen how the US props up dictatorships throughout the world. Then you have other allies like India. The US would be alone if Hong Kong were invaded by US troops. It's interesting that you think an invasion instead of diplomacy would solve the problem. You need to ask yourself why mainland China has not sent its troops into Hong Kong and why Carrie Lam hasn't asked that they be sent.
