Was the Bible perfectly preserved or has it been corrupted?

I’m talking about every Bible that came after the Septuagint

With all the obscure allusions, the Bible can be difficult to understand without assistance from the Holy Spirit who wrote it.

Let us pretend to agree, for a moment, that at least ONE story in the Bible is accurate: Lot's wife, instantly mineralized.

IF IF IF any GOD with THAT kind of Power actually existed, the word would QUICKLY spread that ANYBODY who corrupts the Message, whether by mistranslating or misinterpreting, ALSO gets turned into a pillar of salt.

but, no such God actually exists, so we're left with a nice anthology of PLAIN fact, EXAGGERATED fact, outright FICTION, rip-snorting ADVENTURE, incest, soft-core porn, GOOD advice, BAD advice, just plain AWFUL advice, and some contemplative poetry.

    And one group can say

This passage is LITERAL! The bread becomes the BODILY FLESH (including toenails an armpit hair) of Jesus!" and another group can say "This passage is SYMBOLIC. The bread was and remained BREAD!". Perhaps another group might want to say

"Jesus was a GINGERBREAD MAN! And THAT is why he passed around gingerbread, and finally admitted to the disciples THIS is my body!"

And if no God corrects them, OF COURSE it's going to be corrupted.

But, it was all made up by mere people ANYWAY, so read it with THAT thought in mind, and enjoy it for what it is.

Textual criticism and analysis has proven that the documents have come down to us quite intact and preserved from their original writings.

The Bible IS preserved. Among English translations, the King James is the most accurate version to the original manuscripts. New King James is a close second. Newer versions, especially THE MESSAGE are not to be relied upon for authorative teachings. The NIV and NIrV are not recommended due to their word changes. With every word changed or omitted, the text becomes less accurate. Ex: Out of 200 key words chosen from the New Testament text, the New English Testament omits 197 of them. The NIV omits 195. The Revised Standard omits 189 of the 200 key words. The list goes on for 20 more versions. Only the Martin Luther German New Testament, the King James Version New Testament, and the Textus Receptus (Greek King James) leave all 200 key words in place.

After all of the translations and different versions that have appeared,

it is most probable that the bible is not in any kind of true context anymore.

Like anything else, acceptance of its rambling storylines

should remain voluntary since nothing in any gospel is proven,

or should be taken as being beyond question, or inevitably true.

    The Bible's parables have been

rewritten and embellished far too many times to ever

conclude that its premise & relevance are in any kind of original form.

The bible will always remain as nothing more than a

constantly reinterpreted narrative of parables, stories, and fiction,

whose time and principles can in no way ever have been preserved.

Who says the XXL wasn't already corrupt when it was translated?

There really isn't any "perfect" Bible, the books were never designed to fit together in one book, other humans did that after the authors wrote them.

Let me ask you something first. What do you have left from your childhood that is perfectly preserved all these years later?

The early church (the disciples of Christ) had criteria about what they deemed 'scripture' vs. other inspired writings.

The criteria was simple: only writings known to be by the apostles or those who worked with the apostles were allowed in. So they collected the letters and testimonies and compiled them to form the NT.

There are 26,000 surviving hand written copies of the new testament writings that date to the second century. They were found in dozens of countries in dozens of languages... and they all matched - word for word. These hand written copies survived, but the originals didn't... probably worn to peices from handling.

The writers of the NT were either eyewitnesses or they were close to the events and did extensive interviews with eyewitnesses.

These eyewitnesses went to their deaths because of what they couldn't help speaking about - the life and resurrection of Jesus.

Who would go to their death... tortured... for what they knew was a lie?

The texts we have today are exactly the same as those second century writings because it's those very writings that Biblical scholars use to make the translations we have in our hands today. The OT has been verified accurate by the Dead Sea Scrolls. Language has changed, the message is intact.

I am also a living eyewitness to His Glory. An excerpt is on my profile of my face-to-face encounter with Jesus. And I will also go to my death proclaiming these truths - even if I face martyrdom - that would be an honor.

Compare what you have from childhood. At a time when writing was complicated... ink and papyrus not readily available like pen and paper... the fact that ANYTHING survived from the first century is amazing.

The Bible is the best preserved book of ancient times. It is true that the Bible Scriptures were written by men and transmitted by them and therefore have been affected by human mistakes and imperfections. But Christians perceive God’s governing hand behind the human destinies of the Bible, for despite all of men’s attacks, it has preserved the Bible for two thousand years through a period of the most severe kinds of persecution.

  • We have the Original Languages, Scholars have been pouring over it for more than a thousand years.....its preserved

nothing but God is 'perfect', it has been translated from Greek so that right there makes it subject to 'opinions' ............
