Principle clause is nothing but independent sentence that makes complete sense.

Subordinate clause means dependent clause which is incomplete.

Example:While walking in the park , I found a purse.

Here ‘while walking in the park' does not make complete sense. Where as other part of the sentence 'I found a purse,’ makes complete sense.(principal clause)

Interesting. Those are not the terms used by any grammar book I know of. They are usually known as main clauses, independent clauses or dependent clauses. Where are you studying? Naming clause is not at all helpful in learning to use English correctly. Tell your teacher that. You need to be reading and writing where you use the structures in context.
