Florida has succomed to the outrage of the rest of the country and is shutting them down. The young people who crowded onto those beaches who contracted the virus are likely to get a mild case and might barely notice it. Their parents and grandparents who they spread it to are far more likely to die. They don't care.

They aren't allowing the gatherings. It is just beyond their ability to prevent thousands of students from defying the ban.
