I just recently came out as trans male. It is really hard to have people get used to changing your name and pronouns. Especially those close to you, since they have known all their life to call you something different. You'll get the hang of it eventually.

My trick was forcing myself to call my non-passing trans guy friends ''bro'' and ''my man'' because it's easier to continue to speak with male pronouns then. After they'd start on T, there's the beard and the voice drop so it gets easier because the bearded dude I see is most definitely not a girl :D

It will take time. This is still new to you. When he fully looks like a guy it will be easier for you to see him as a man.

You will get the hang of it and I am sure he will understand if you slip up. You have been calling him by a different name and pronoun his entire life up until this point so its not just a change you need to adjust to but a habit you need to break.

It just takes practice. Apologize if you mess up. He’ll understand.

Well, simply ask directly (Preferably private.

My daughter has a roommate who identifies as male, but looks very female.  I just avoid using pronouns all together.  I use his name Blake, nothing more, otherwise I mess up.
