How long does it typically take SCOTUS to rule on a case?

There is no "typically" for this. It's like asking, how long does a car trip typically take?

There is NO SUCH THING as typical. In several cases, every Justice has made up their mind BEFORE hearing arguments. In others, they don't have decided in advance not to rule before certain political events (elections) have occurred.

Typically? Do you mean the mean, the median, or the modal time from filing with the SCOTUS clerk to the issuance of all decisions ever rendered by the court? Meaningless, doncha think? If It's someone on death row asking for a stay of execution it can be days. On the other hand, the court can deny cert and never issue a decision on the merits, or wait years until the legal issue comes up again in a different case. So, the range is from days to never. You tell us the average of that.

Usually, they take 3+ months to make a decision; but they don't fart around if there is an issue of national importance.  They made a prompt decision on Nixon's crimes, and I would hope that the jokers in today's court would not mess around, nor play politics, after Trump tries to sabotage the November election.
