Is observational astronomy a one-sided anachronism where you can see the universe of the PAST, Not The FUTURE Y / N?

    Can you clarify this question?

The universe isn't old enough for all stars to have lived and died, although it is old enough that some have.  In that respect, how we study the stars is much like how you might study a forest...  Upon visiting for the first time, you'll see acorns and pine cones on the forest floor; you'll see saplings, young trees, and huge fir trees or mighty oaks, and some that have been broken and lying on the ground... And, you'll be able to surmise that all the different sights you've seen are all trees in various states of growth - seeds, seedlings, large, living trees, and the corpses of others that have lived and died.

Looking into the night sky, we can tell which stars are young, which are old, which will have short lifespans, and those that'll burn for a long time. While we don't know the whole story yet - it makes sense to continue the study.

The past is all we can ever experience, since the brain takes a while to process sensory stimuli, nerve impulses take time to reach it and so on.

Since light travels at a finite speed, everything you see is in the past.

No. False. Observational astronomy is NOT an anachronism. Those are fighting words. May a large method impact your property or you when it becomes a meteorite.
