Have you ever been called a liar for remembering something others forgot?

I have a really good word-to-word memory. On more then one occasion someone has accused me of misquoting myself or someone else. The worst part is, is that people seem to only remember what they want or what helps them. So even in a group, one person can convince the rest of remembering something that never happened, just because it's easier to accept, leaving me defenceless. The odd time I could get some evidence to prove it, like if it was recorded on text, or one other person can validate the story.

But in the end I feel like I'm paying a price for being smarter.

Can you relate to this?

There comes a time when a person has been telling the same story (non-factual rememberance) so long that to them it has become the truth!

I don't argue with them or even try to correct them any more because some times it is enough to know I am right and they are wrong. No amount of evidence will dissuade them, so no reason to bother.

Yes smart people pay a heavy price in this world because we’re often surrounded by idiots. I feel your disillusionment. People are threatened by and resent smart individuals. I am well aware of this. Been a problem with my own life too.
