Repentance is a change in the way we think which will change the way we act.

So when a person repents they recognize that they have thought and acted wrongly.

They decide to think and act differently in the future.

To repent of your sins, you pray to God in Jesus's name with a repentant heart and ask for forgiveness.

Saying your sorry to god, doesn't do anything for the people you wronged in life.

The easy part to that question is not to do any more what you repented then there is the judgement against you that has to be considered either by man or God that you have to have faith in.

Mt. 21:28-31 explains it, "I will not, but afterward he repented and went."

Contrary to popular belief, repent does not mean to "turn from sins." If it did, then no one would be saved since no one has completely turned from their sins. Furthermore, the Bible is clear that salvation is not by works. Repentance simply means a "change of mind" from unbelief to belief in Jesus Christ as Savior.

The truth is that death leads to heaven or hell, and the only way to heaven is through faith in Jesus Christ.

The Bible is very clear that no one can earn their way to heaven since good works do not pay for sins. See Gal. 2:16, Rom. 3:23-28, 4:4-5, Eph. 2:8-9, Tit. 3:5. The only way to heaven is by believing in Jesus for His free gift of eternal life. Jesus shed His blood on the cross as the full payment for our sins. He did all the work; all He requires of us is that we believe in Him. Once you believe in Jesus Christ to save you, you are secure forever!

Because we have all sinned against a perfectly holy and righteous God, we all deserve eternal separation from God in hell (Rom. 6:23). However, God loves us so much that He sent His only Son Jesus to die on the cross as our Substitute so we don't have to go to hell. Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose from the grave three days later (1 Cor. 15:3-4). He gives eternal life freely to anyone who simply believes in Him for it. No one can be saved by doing good works. Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone (Eph. 2:8-9).

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life" (John 6:47).

Repent does not mean "turn from sins".  Repent is a change of mind.  In terms of heaven and hell, repent is a change of mind from unbelief, to believing in the Lord Jesus Christ.  Believing in the Lord Jesus Christ means being forgiven all sins past and future and means going to heaven and not hell.  All saved people still sin.  See 1 John 1:8.  Nobody can be good enough to avoid hell.  So to avoid hell, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is that easy.  When a person dies, they will be in heaven or hell, and they can't get out of hell if that is where they go.  To go to heaven and not go to hell, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, without adding any of your works.  Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, who is God and who died on the cross and shed His blood to pay for all our sins, and who resurrected from the dead.  See Romans 4:5 and 1 Corinthians 15:3-4.

    I don't repent at all.

I do NOT allow the Bible to act as a directive.

The envy, greed, words, and two-bit morals of

two thousand years ago are not going to tell

me that I have to 'repent' in my here-and-now.

Christ-based faith and its routines may be acceptable,

but they are the furthest thing from being necessary.

Repentance is a change of mind you are sorry for sinning. you do not do the same sin over again. you are sorry that you have sinned and you have turned away from doing the sin again. Thanks for the question.

Jesus never said what that entails. Christians just believe it is the changing of your mind. I think it must be a man and woman getting born again in order to enter the kingdom of God. But Jesus did not say this so I do not know but think it is a man and woman being born again. Now that makes sense to me. What about you?

@Gentile   Are you saying that you are birthing yourself by changing your own mind and stop sinning? That is not the truth that Jesus tells us in the bible. A man and woman must be born of the Spirit therefore it is the Spirit that births you and not you changing your mind.

It means you turn from your current course. Like a ship. It might be emotional, but it's not about emotion, it's about changing your mind to a better way or a safer way. I changed from being a person who didn't trust in God, to a person who trusts God for what he said. I understood Jesus died for my sins, and if I continue to trust him, he will influence me to a better way of life.
