Stimulus Check Refund Question?

I never received my stimulus check in the mail so I filed for it on my taxes.  Now after filing my taxes my check was in my mailbox..... Not sure if it was lost or sent to the wrong address.

So what's the worst that would happen if I cashed this check even though I just filed for it on my taxes?

Update:

I filed and the IRS opted on calling me a liar and saying I cashed in my stimulus already.  They took the $600 off my taxes so good thing I kept the check cause I cashed it in

You have to then amend your tax return.  You would owe the money back if yo get it twice.

You can cash it and amend your return or not cash it/burn it.  The result in your pocket is the same.

If you ended up with it twice, you would owe it back plus interest.  But I doubt that will happen as their system will see they sent it.

You will get a letter from the IRS that you owe the money back with a penalty.
