What's the statute of limitations for rape? How long can go by before its too late?

of course there is a state of limitations.  doubtful anyone specifically knows TX law.....also some circumstances change it, such as the person was transported over state lines.

off hand, i think it s 3 or 5 years in my state, by am not sure...some states are more, some states less.

i think the RAINN hotline handles things like this, you can also look up your local rape crisis center.

even if within statute, without strong evidence, you can't do anything.

In Texas, the criminal statute of limitations for rape and other sexual assault offenses that involve a victim who is 18 or older is 10 years after the day the offense took place. The civil statute of limitations for sex crimes against adults is 5 years after the date the offense occurred.

Depends on where you are.  Since physical evidence is largely non existent after about 48-72 hrs max....

It depends on where you live, each state is different for example in Georgia cases for forcible rape must be started within 15 years. But in Texas there is no crime called "rape". There are various types of sexual assaults. In the case of what would most commonly be called rape the statute of limitations is 10 years. In certain cases, such a minor is involved there is no statute of limitations.
