Now that he has gotten to know you well and your soul, spirit, kindness, etc, I would tell him the truth if you feel like you need to. If he really loves you, the truth will not matter and he will accept you anyway. Tell him that you were just ashamed of your past, wanted a fresh start in life, and that you love him and want to be the best person for him and an honest from now on.
