What do you feel are the common pitfalls with negotiations going wrong and how can you go past them?

    The most common pitfall is seeing negotiations as a win or loose situation.

    To be successful the situation need to be a win/win.

    More so (noting this is in family and relationships) when it is interpersonal.

    To get something, you have to give something.

    So go for a win/win and don't see the failure to get what you want as a rejection of you as a person.
