Will totally agree that just because your born into a family, it does not mean that you have to like them. It does however mean that you should be able to find some points of agreement. I also acknowledge that on occasions  one family member attempt to dominate the rest of them. .Such people are bullies for that is how they get their kicks, and would suggest that a good crack in the mouth is probably the only form of retaliation that they would understand.

Parents of course usually never ever hear of the original cause of the problem, so trying to act in as neutral a way as possible  just shut down the antagonists. 

Suggest that if your sister  really was the antagonist, then a bust lip just might convince he that a loud mouth could easily lead to another bust lip on a future occasion.  She may be encouraged to alter her future behaviour.

NOTE.  It is not considered to be a very male thing to do to go around giving females a bust lip.  Yes, I know that they can get on your wick at times, and a female with domineering tendencies is without doubt a pain in the Rse.

I’m sure any parent who is sane wouldn’t say they will lock you in your room for one week. I think you should lock yourself in your room for two weeks with no internet access :)) 

Yes.  In fact when you are older and your parents can't punish you anymore, society will put you in a similar room for much longer.  Often you will have roommates who might give you a taste of what you did to your sister, or far worse.

most people train their pets better than your parents have trained you and your sister.
