He preaches in Grace Community Church, and he is the author of numerous books. His famous book "The Charismatics" was anti-pentecostal in nature. He has sound biblical exegesis of scripture throughout his numerous books.

    Never met 'im.

    P.S.

Sheer coincidence, today I had to drive the boss and he was listening to John MacArthur on the radio.

What I think of him: his preaching is to the Bible what colorizing is to classic black and white movies. It's terrible the way he so...extravagantly loosely interprets simple and straightforward Bible passages.

John MacArthur is a very popular pastor, but he is a false teacher. He is a 5-point Calvinist and holds to the damnable heresy of "lordship salvation." LS is 100% WORKS for salvation which is an accursed message according to the Bible (Gal. 1:6-9). I recommend you stay far away from John MacArthur's teachings and those of like-minded Calvinists (e.g. John Piper, RC Sproul, Paul Washer, etc.). They will all lead you astray. If you take their teachings at face value, then you do not know where you are going when you die. Contrary to what these men teach, the Bible says you can KNOW you have eternal life through simple faith in Jesus Christ (1 John 5:13).  As an alternative, I would recommend going to YouTube and watching old sermons by the late Dr. Hank Lindstrom. He was a terrific Bible teacher and always very clear on explaining the Gospel of grace.

The Bible teaches that we are all sinners who deserve eternal separation from God in hell. But the good news is that the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay for all our sins and rose again (1 Cor. 15:3-4). Because of the shed blood of Christ, no one has to go to hell. All one must do to receive eternal life is to believe in Jesus Christ for that free gift! The moment you believe in Christ alone to save you (apart from works), you are kept eternally secure and will go to heaven when you die no matter what.

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life" (John 5:24).

He is a faithful man of God whom God has used to teach many good things.  But he is just a man saved by the grace of God.

To anon above:  if you think Calvinism teaches 100% works salvation, you demonstrate you know little to nothing about Calvinism, nor John MacArthur nor Paul Washer, nor John Calvin, nor Martin Luther.  I doubt you have ever seriously read any works on Calvinism, and probably just going on what an ignorant Pastor told you as he misrepresented Reformed doctrine.
