Is this iPhone 12 Pro legally mine (still under contract)?
I use an Apple iPhone 12 Pro that I had acquired through a phone plan and was just wondering if the phone legally belongs to my telco provider since I am paying for it in installments. It is my understanding the telco provider paid Apple in full and the telco provider expects its customers to agree to a plan to pay the telco company back?
What happens if I don't pay for the handset?
What happens if I paid over 80% of the handset?
Also is it illegal for a telco provider to refuse a refund for a service I never used? I spent hundreds of dollars for a SIM-only plan I never used and they keep refusing to cancel that service by offering me a new plan for a tablet..

The CONTRACT doesn't go away because you didn't actually use the service. As long as the service was made available, they gave you what you paid for.
If you don't pay in full, you owe them the unpaid ballance and they can sue you.
