How exactly does the US benefit from its relationship with Israel?

    Israel "puts down" various dangerous forces in the region.

    - for example: when they bombed the Syrian nuclear weapons research plant

    - for example: by assassinating several Iranian scientists who were working on nuclear weapons research

    - for example: by being the primary focus of Iran's terrorism support (which terrorism they work to stymie)

    etc.

    IF there were a problem in the region that the U.S. needed to meet with military force

    Israel would be an ally, allowing us to use their airbases, etc.
