possible calcaneal cancer or osteosarcoma in a teenager (HEEL PAIN)?
I've been dealing with heal pain and I'm thinking of going to a doctor again. The first time I went to a sports medicine doctor because I thought my injury was sports related, which it still very well could be; however, the injury doesn't seem to be getting better, or at least is healing very slowly.
Here's what's bizarre about my heel pain:
- I can run pretty normally without much or any pain (I got a shoe with lots of support)
- I can walk completely normally in open-backed shoes (flip flops)
- I can even stand on my tip toes (without shoes)
- A couple of weeks ago, the pain in my left heel – when hiking in close backed shoes that weren't these running shoes that miraculously don't hurt my heel – was a solid 8/10. I was in agony. It's just how my heel rubs against the back I guess. I truly hope that if I were to hike tomorrow, I wouldn't have this pain, but I have no way of knowing unless I put on a shoe, because barefoot I feel nothing.
I don't feel like this is my tendon, but it's at the bone. I highly doubt it's bone cancer because I likely couldn't walk barefoot, and I can, it's just I have exhausted every possible solution.
