we're about to have promotions in our dojo.. there will be a lot of people and many honored guests there, and most students are very excited and really looking forward to getting promoted.. everyone EXCEPT me.. the problem is that I am not interested in ranks, for me the color of the belt is meaningless. I'd rather have my sensei tell me that I've mastered/completed at least 1 move absolutely perfectly than to get another rank.. So would it be considered to be an offense if I refuse to accept a promotion?

A1 is also equal to a number.. All the variables in this matrix are known except for Nt..how can I find it? I know I would be able to solve the system if the matrix was equal to another matrix, but how can I solve it if it's equal to a single number that is not zero?

2 cars traveling along same route with same speed. How much do I need to reduce speed of 1st car for the second to overtake it, and how long would it take? Any help would be appreciated! :)

my sister's car engine light went on, the speed dial does not register anything when she tries to drive, and when she does try to drive she has to push gas pedal all the way to the floor. Any ideas? she took it to the shop but would like to know at least a little about what might cause problem so the dealer doesn't rip her off and tries to sell something she doesn't really need.

My kitty keeps throwing up several times a day. This is not your typical hairball problem. She is 14 yrs old, and until last months she was in very good health. She's been getting worse and worse. I can feel some sort of lumps on her side, but don't know what those might be. She lost a lot of weight, and I suspect she's very dehydrated even though I keep giving her food full of fluids. I can't take her to the vet because she's terrified of cars and noises. what can I do to help her?

I'm an Astrophysicist trying to switch more into engineering because that's what I've really enjoyed on my previous assignment.. However, once I got my MS I haven't been able to find a job and it's been almost 2 yrs. In some places I was told straight out that they want only men to work there.. What gives? Why do we still have to deal with prejudice these days when everyone else is seemingly progressing past such stupidity?!!! All schools are encouraging women to go into sciences and engineering, but when you get out in the working world you don't get a chance to show what you're capable of...
