  • Buddy Rich - DIABOLUS - why was this 'out of the books'?

When asked if his band would peform the complex and amazing 'Diabolus' piece he responded that it is 'no longer on the books'. Does this merely mean that they wouldn't perform it or were there other factors involved? I love this piece of music and would love to see and/or hear a live performance of it by his band.

  • Solar panels and snow?

We just had our first negative experience with our solar panels, when the snow on the roof came tumbling down, taking out a rear fence and then taking out our Christmas lights and walkway path lights. There was only about 4-5" of snow up there and it sounded like a truck passed by. So I am think what if we get 12" of snow or more? My roof is very high and hard to get to and they told me that a snow rake could damage the panels. Mine rake wouldn't reach anyway. I'd need something 40' - 50' long and pretty light weight.

    Any ideas or experiences?

  • NYC Federal Jury Duty - Travel Reimbursement?

I recently served on a Federal jury in NYC for 16 days. They pay you $40 per day plus travel expenses, however, THEY calculate the costs and send you a check several weeks later. I submitted the parking receipts for all 16 days and then waited. When the check arrived, the amount they paid was some $300.00 less than I actually spent to commute to and from the federal court from the northern surburbs during that time period. I have since mailed the Court Clerk a detailed letter with breakouts of my travel expenses and the total amount that was not reimbursed. What are my chances of seeing the additional money that I feel I should be reimbursed?

  • Has there been progress in the WWF Save The Tiger program?

I love these big cats and would like to know if there is anyone out there with real information regarding the WWF and other programs ( like Create an Uproar ) who are on this every day. I contribute regularly but more is needed I fear.

  • Funny NYC joke! These two guys are walking along the street and one says to the other, 'Do you hear that'?

His friend says 'What?' 'Listen!' he responds and then they both hear 'Nine, nine, nine, nine, nine...' repeated over and over again from the other side of a wooden fence surrounding a construction site on that same street. As they walk further they hear it get louder and angrier.. 'NINE, NINE, NINE, NINE....' driving the first guy nuts! He then asks his friend to give him a boost so he could look over the top of the fence to see who is saying this. His friend boosts him up, he looks over the fence and a fist out of nowhere slams him in the face, sending him to the sidewalk! As he shakes his head, both he and his bubby hear from the other side of the fence......' ten, ten, ten, ten ,ten, ten....!

  • Pension - survivor benefit or extra Insurance?

With a pension, you usually have the option of taking a slighty reduced amount to guarantee payments of about 50-60% to your spouse after your death. An alternative is to take the full amount and then take out a term policy that would 'cover' your spouse after you are gone. What do you think is the better choice?

  • Waivers - when do you get them?

My daughter acted as an extra recently in a movie and was paid nicely for the day and was also told that it was waiver work. I understand that 3 of these will permit you to get into SAG. When do you collect the actual waiver? Is it in writing? On your record somewhere? Mailed to you?

  • A Baby Fawn dies - this is so sad!?

Can anyone make me feel better about this situation?

Three days ago, a baby fawn is spotted entering the woods near my house. Amazed, I made a small noise and he walked up to me, took a quick look and then continued into the woods. I did not see a doe in the area and was concerned for him. The following day my daughters spotted him in the woods again looking quite small but healthy. Again no doe but we read that this is normal.

Yesterday morning, my wife called me to tell me that he was now

curled on our front step, sleeping. I was amazed and very concerned.

After looking into many sites I was told repeatedly to leave him alone, do not touch him or try to feed him. His mother will return for him and that orphan fawns are very rare and that does are usually elusive during the day. We get many deer on our property, but never saw a fawn.

Early this morning, I got up to check to see if he was gone but he was not. He had died during the night and I cannot keep him out of my mind.

He was so small and helpless. I wish I had ignored all the experts and had done what my instincts told me to do: feed him and keep him warm and call animal rescue.

  • Who likes those Old Men jokes?

An 87 year old man goes to the doctor and is asked to give a rarely requested semen sample. The old man is surprised but takes and small sample jar and goes back home.

The next day he returns and places the empty jar on the doctors desk.

The doctor asks W'hy is it empty?'.

'Doc, I tried with my right hand. Nothin'

Then I tried with my left hand. Still nothin'

Then I asked my wife to help.

She tried with her right hand. Nothin'

Then she tried with her left hand. Nothin' again!

Then she tried using her mouth and that didn't help!

She even took out her teeth, but again, no help.

Then we called our younger neighbor Esther.

'You asked your neighbor?' asked the amazed doctor!

Yup! She's only 68 years old.

She tried with her right hand. Nothin'

And then she tried with her left hand. Nothin' still.

Then she put between her legs and squeezed hard. Nothin'

Then she put it in her mouth but she still has all her teeth.

    That didn't help either!"

The doctor was amazed and even shocked.

'Your neighbor put it in her mouth?" asked the doctor

'Sure did! She's a peach! But it didn't help.

We jus' couldn't get that jar open!"

What can I spray on my front roadside lawn that is not harmful but will still manage to keep dogs from wanting to use the grass for their 'business'. It's annoying to have neighbors who do not cleanup after their pet and walk their dogs when no one is around.... I believe there is a spray available....

  • Have you ever seen a Ghost? I mean really!?

My brother AND his family ( all skeptics ) claimed there was one in their 130 year old Tudor home. Always in the livingroom. I went there to see what this REALLY might be and to my amazement, I saw it too! A faint white vapor of an elderly woman in a gown or robe. An unquestionable image.
