food ideas for elderly italian couple on holidays in canada?
in august we will have an elderly and conservative italian couple visiting our home on vancouver island. this couple has not been out of italy for decades and speak very little to no english at all.
i need food ideas for while they are here to keep them as comfortable as possible. what kind of meals, snacks, desserts etc would they eat at home and any great sites to give me more info?
all suggestions welcome and appreciated.
please bear in mind that this is not about north american versions of italian food, but the real deal.

8 AnswersEthnic Cuisine1 decade agohow make senior rescue dog with torn acl's in both hind legs comfortable?
this sweet boxer was a rescue. he's been with us for 5 months now. he is very senior (guessing 12+ years) and surgery is not an option.
he's on metacam. sometimes he pants so hard... other times he's totally comfortable. he has great difficulty doing anything like stairs, drags his feet/nails when he walks and truly has no good use of his hind legs.
we just want to keep him comfortable.
is there anything we can use (pharmalogically) to help? he already sleeps on a big old down duvet covered in a wool blanket. he eats well still and sometimes is even playful.
any ideas?
thx.
2 AnswersDogs1 decade agowhy do so many speak with an interrogative lilt at the end of their sentences?
since when does every single sentence people speak, whether it's a question or not, have to end with the voice going UP as if it is a question (when it's not) or they are unsure of themselves?
this is happening more and more and is pretty much considered normal now.
does anyone else find it very irritating?
11 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agowhat should i do with my '92 jetta diesel? sell? or carry on with it?
i have a '92 jetta diesel (basic, no turbo) that is a tank. i love this car but it's getting old. in the last year i replaced all the clutch stuff (it was a $1500 bill) and now the transmission is being replaced as well (it'll be another $1500).
i know i could have used that money more wisely towards a new car (city jetta or golf!) but now it's done and i have to decide if it's NOW the time to sell this lovely old jetta or keep it because the main bits are all replaced.
it's only got around 215K km on it and the body's in great shape (west coast driven only... no snow or salt).
i'd appreciate advice from those of you who know about these things.
and, unfortunately, money is a dictating factor for me. i am not at a stage in my life where i can easily purchase a new car . yet, taking over a used one may well present the problems i am now faced with as well.
what to do.... what to do..... please.... advice anyone?
thanks.

3 AnswersTelevision1 decade agosince when did it become normal to greet strangers with a hug and not a proper handshake?
i'm not anti-social but i'm sometimes very uncomfortable with this hugging phase our society is going through.
does anyone else feel a bit strange about this as the rule now and not just the exception?

4 AnswersCell Phones & Plans1 decade agowhy has weight become such a huge problem in this world?
we're focussed more than ever on fitness, exercise, diets and low fat everything etc... but the average weight of people continues to go up and up and many are morbidly obese.

7 AnswersCommuting1 decade agoWhy do those scrambled eggs in fancy hotels always tast so incredibly good and moist?
And i'm not talking about the ones in big smorgasbord vats but the individual servings you order in top restaurants.
They are so very moist and soft.
How do they do that?
