  • I am connected to the internet, but nothing will open?

Yesterday, I was using firefox when my computer restarted itself randomly. I was tired so I shut it down and went to sleep. But now, even though I am connected to the internet I cannot open anything other than task manager and folders. When I try to open a browser, it just doesn't open. No message or anything. When I am looking on task manager I can see that I am not receiving anything the internet sends me. Does anyone have a solution to this (I am typing this on an alternate computer)?

  • I have a "lump" in my throat.?

One day, I swallowed (Nothing in particular) and there was an immense pain in my throat. Eventually it went away, but later I noticed part of my throat was kind of pushed out. It doesn't hurt to swallow or anything but I am worried it may lead to problems in the future. Does anyone know what this is?

  • Why is it healthy to socialize?

I am an introvert, but my mother is trying to get me to volunteer for something so I can "do the healthy thing and be with others". I asked why it is healthy to socialize, because in my experience being with others only gives you ulcers. She was silent, then said that I should trust her. I don't accept this. Is there a legitimate reason that an introvert should socialize a lot?

  • Should I quit Martial Arts?

I am a black belt in Krav Maga (Mixed Street fighting and traditional karate). I have been doing it for about three years. I used to have fun with it, however as of late I have stopped liking it. I am not good at sports so my parents are proud that I am good at one.

    Some facts:

    I am a 13 year old introvert.

I want to be an author.

I began martial arts because my parents wanted me to try to make friends.

The martial arts place I go to is rather expensive, in fact it caused my mother to get a job (she used to be a stay at home mom) and she hates it.

The reason I don't want to do Martial Arts any more is because I know everything in the curriculum. Because of this they put me in the adult class, where I am not exactly welcome.

I know that it will hurt my parents if I quit, but at the same time I know that it will help our financial situation. What should I do?

  • Am I a little to harsh???????????????????????????????????????

Some of the people at my school put on a play. It is my job to write a review for it in the school newspaper. Here is my review:

Why do the people at West (my school) not understand the simple fact that there is a difference between making something funny and THE THREE STOOGES?

The acting was wooden, the jokes were cheesy, it overall didn't make any sense whatsoever. The only funny parts were when the show was trying to be serious. Which is fine. For a school play. Not something you are TAKING MY MONEY FOR!

(Yes, the play did require a ticket to get in).

  • Does the Pokemon Black and White conflict represent the American Civil War?

(NO, I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT THE TITLE)

I was watching my cousin play Pokemon White and I formed a theory. He was at the first scene with Team Plasma. I realize that the bad teams are only to give the player someone to fight, but I was intrigued with this team. They were vouching for Pokemon liberation, which makes sense. The Pokemon are essentially slaves, fighting for their master.

In the 16 and 1700's before Africans were called the same species as Europeans, some wealthy people would raise an African male like he was a prince of Europe. These children were treated, well, like a prince. As a result, they had very good relationships with their masters. But, they were still slaves.

The point I'm trying to make is that no matter how much the slave likes his/her master, that person is still their master.

In the early 1800's in the US, an increase of tensions between the North and South of the USA, one of which was the issue of Slavery happened. Eventually, these issues led to open conflict (American Civil War) Eventually, the North won and the USA became slave free.

In Pokemon B/W, there is a similar situation, except instead of society being against slavery (from an Northern point of view), it was for it. Team Plasma vouched for Pokemon liberation (which I perceive as an Abolitionist point of view). Eventually the differences of opinion led to open conflict, but this time the slave drivers won.

    Am I making any sense?

    Am I over thinking this?

(Not quite sure where to post this, could you help me out with that as well?)

  • Please help me come up with a good title for this novel, also tell me your opinion?

These are the basics of the book I am going to write.

I was thinking "The Last Star" for the title, but it turns out that is the title of a cd with songs from the 80's.

It is some billions of years in the future. Earth is gone, and the human race is only a few million people. Most stars in our portion of the galaxy have burned out. As a result, the remains of the humans and several alien species have started a project to try to get to a place with stars and planets. A few years later, the last of the stars in the immediate vicinity burn out, and it is a 5000 year journey to another cluster. The species start their journey, but rioting breaks out in the civilian population. One by one, ships drop out of the fleet. Eventually the fleet consists of 15 ships, with a total of 5 million life forms. The leaders know that their chances are slim, but it is their only hope.

(If this resembles any other work, it is by coincidence. Please tell me if that happens).

  • Is she overprotective or is it in my head?

I am 13 years old and mature for my age.

Lately, I have been spending more time in my room, reading. As a result, I see less of my family. Whenever I do come out of my room for say, dinner, My mother talks to me like I am a six year old (in word choice and voice pitch). I used to be able to go to the store which is about a mile from my house by myself with no questions asked, but now my mom insists I wear a helmet and take her phone with me. This really p*sses me off (don't know if that is censored). As a result, I spend more and more time in my room. As a result of this, my mom does the annoying stuff more and more. I tried spending more time outside to see if it reverses, but it only got worse.

Is she being overprotective or is in my head?

Regardless of the answer, please tell me which part of my question tipped you off.

  • What is happening and what does it mean? (sorry it is long).?

First, allow me to discuss the situation in my school. Because of the weather, after lunch we sit in the gym until our teachers come and get us. We sit against the walls because some morons were hitting the volleyball net.

    Ok let me get started:

After lunch I was one of the first to get to the gym, so I sat down alone and waited. Soon after, a large social group came and sat down in my general area.

    The group expanded.

    The group expanded.

    The group expanded.

Until finally people were sitting right next to me. Then, a girl (who I happen to like) sits with the group right next to me. She says hi and I say hi back and then go back to my own business. Then one of the girl's friends came over. He is taller and stronger (and less intelligent) than me. There was no more room, so he tried to intimidate me by staring. I wasn't intimidated because I had recently gotten my black belt so I knew I could defend myself. After awhile, he finally said "Why won't you move?".

I replied "Let me answer that with another question. Why do you persist in trying to scare me when the only thing you have to get out of it is freshly fractured pride and dignity?" I meant this in the most sarcastic way possible. Anyway, as soon as I was done the girl began laughing like crazy. The other guy left and I got back to my business.

Several minutes later, I see throught the corner of my eye that the girl is looking at me. Not like we just happened to look at eachother, but like a gaze of sorts.

Is she just awed at me telling the other guy off, does she like me, or is it something else entirely.

NOTE: I want to know so I don't jump to assumptions. I am not interested in pursuing this girl, despite me liking her. This is mainly because my best friend also likes this girl (bros before hos, right?).

  • How do I cope with this situation?

In my school there is the usual selection of people. The people who are smart, the people who are pretty/handsome, the people who are jocks, the people who are not particularly leaning towards any direction, and mixtures all of them. I fit in the smart group. Anyway there is this one kid in one of my classes who is different. To sum it up, he has no skills that are useful that I can see whatsoever. The problem is that we are partners in one of my classes. This normally wouldn't be a problem. In this situation I would tell the kid what to do and make it like we are working together to the kid and teacher. This however, is a special case. This kid THINKS he is the smartest thing sense Einstein. He questions and corrects what EVERYONE does in the room he is in (teachers included). He however, doesn't say anything that is actually correct. I simply cannot work with him (keep in mind that in this class, a large portion of the grade depends on how well you work on a team).

  • What the heck is going on?

Ok. Let me start this off by giving a little extra information.

We are both in the Advanced Math Class

We both get high grades on tests.

Ok. There is a girl in my math class who sits next to me. We were doing some stuff on the nth term. We both aced the test on nth term which was about a week before. But here, she was asking questions that I know she knows the answers to. I tell her what it is, and ten minutes later, she asks the same question again.

Does she really not understand it or is there something else going on?

  • Based on what I list, would a 7th grade girl like me?

    I am:

    Smart

    Funny

    Skinny

    Short

Black Belt in Krav Maga (street fighting mixed with traditional techniques)

Strategy Game Geek (not nerd, geek)

    Non-Talkative

Great Writer (as described by my Language Arts teacher)

Please do not give me the speech about how 7th graders shouldn't be dating. This is merely something I can fall back on IF I decided to ask anyone out.

  • There is a girl at my school I like... help?

There is a girl at my school I like a lot. Here is the situation: We are in the 7th grade. We came from different elementary schools, so we don't know each other very well. It seemed to me that she had no interest in me, so I let it go and suppressed my feelings. That would have ended it, but just today she came to me and talked to me. After a bit one of her friends came and started talking to her, without realizing I was there. After a few minutes her friend saw me and excused herself, with the excuse that she didn't want to interrupt us "conversing" as she worded it. After that in science class she was looking at me. Half of my friends think she likes me, but the other half don't. I could use some help.
