How to get into medicine at Cambridge?
I am currently a year 12 student and I hope to go onto study medicine at university. My dream uni would be Cambridge but I am aware that this is extremely competitive. My GCSE results are 10 A stars and I am hoping to get 4 at A-level in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Spanish. I was wondering what UMS marks I realistically need to achieve and what other thinks I definatley need to have to stand a chance. Any tips for interview or anything else would be great!
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)7 years agoAdvice for a medical applicant, please help!!!!?
I am really interested in medicine and would love to become a doctor. It has got to the time when i need to consider what medical schools to apply to and how i could improve my chances.
My stats are 10 A* GCSE, predicted AAAA in biology (A* A2), spanish (A*) A2 maths and chemistry
biology and spanish are my strongest subjects and i am top of the year in my school (300 people in the year) however it is a state school, so i am not sure how this compares with the standard of other applicants.
I have got lots of work expirience planned (a week at St Guys in London, with the surgery team, and few days in Nuffield in oxford in pyshciatrics, and 2 weeks in a hospital in the czech republic with gap medics (maybe also some time with medical research)) I also play sport and am doing young enterprise, and i volunteer weekly in a care home
I am currently thinking of applying to
Nottingham
edinburugh
UEA
birmingham
but maybe cambridge
could people tell me what they think my chances are, where they think i should apply, and any tips on medicine or good courses
Thank-you for your help

4 AnswersPrimary & Secondary Education8 years agoShould I consider medicine?
I am in year 11 now and I am about to take my gcse's and move onto a-levels. This means that whether i become a doctor or not will affect my choices. I am between taking maths, spanish biology and history and then going onto study politics and go into policy, or taking chemisrty instead of history and doing medicine. I am good at science and am predicted a*'s and always thought that i would do chemistry and a-level and i do enjoy it, but i also really like history and i am very interested in current affairs. I really want to help people and make a difference in my life but also want to do a career i like. Can someone tell me what being a doctor involves and the highs and the lows, as well as any advice on what i should do?

2 AnswersPrimary & Secondary Education9 years agoFriend problems please help?
ok at my school people are really backstabbing and i am having a hard time trying to work out who my friends are. One of my friends (friend A) used to get angry at the smallest thing and wouldn't talk to me for days, now she has realised what she is doing and has tried really hard to stop, but she often says things i don't like and we have very different views on things, i know that preciously she has talked behind my back and i'm not sure if she still does, Friend B always talks about friend A behind her back but claims she's nothing like her, she can be nice but she acts really childish and can be really irratating and says things that i think are unreasonable. Friend C is really nice and never talks about people behind their backs but she can act really childish and immature, friend D is really quiet and we barely talk but she is really kind, friend E is really nice and we get on really well but she often talks about people behind their backs and has what i think are unfair veiws on people, Friend F is really nice and never back stabsm is she my only real friend? who should i try and build our friendship and who should i try to avoid? please help?
