Hair dye didn't work - attempting dark brown to blonde?
My 15 yr old daughter has naturally dark brown hair, but wanted to dye it blonde. We used a cheap Revlon dye, but it didn't do much. Her roots are now light brown but the tips are still dark. It looks highlighted, and I think it looks great. But it isn't what she wanted.
Should we try again, maybe with a different brand? I don't want to risk a change that might make it look unnatural (like turning orange or something). I also don't want to bleach it because I keep hearing bad stories of hair damage.
6 AnswersHair6 years agoShouldn't identity/credit theft be easy to catch?
Identity theft seems to be a common crime and there is a lot of information on how to protect yourself and clear problems on your credit report.
But why does it seem so hard to catch the perpetrators? For instance, if someone steals your credit information and opens credit cards in your name, couldn't they be traced by the address they are using?
3 AnswersCredit6 years agoCould there be an all-water planet?
I have heard that Earth's water probably evolved from steam from volcanic activity, as well as comets and meteors bringing ice from space. My understanding (with no real physics education) is that Earth's crust was once molten, and this created steam as a by-product as it cooled. It left us with a surface of over 2/3 water.
Sometimes in sci fi you see planets that are all water. Is there any way scientifically that this could happen? Where would all that water come from? How would an all water planet maintain an atmosphere without a liquid iron core to create an electromagnetic field protecting the planet?

I have been unemployed and not payed mortgage since August 1. I just received a letter that says, "Acceleration Warning (Notice of Intent to Foreclose) and it details what I owe. I called the number but they won't tell me the date it will foreclose. How do I know how much time I have to make a payment? What happens next?

Don't people ever get "changed" who are older adults, or fat, or disabled? Or does the process of becoming a vampire automatically make a person young, beautiful, and perfect?

4 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling9 years agoSimCity for Windows 7?
It seems there are no recent versions of SimCity at all, even the "latest" SimCity 4 came out a few years ago and isn't intended to be run on Windows 7. So if I want to play a SimCity game, what do I do? The facebook game CityVille has little to do with the original games and is actually quite tedious because it requires "neighbors" for almost everything. But there don't seem to be many alternatives. :(
I know SimCity 2000 is a very old game by today's standards, but I really think it was the best SimCity game. Is there a way it can be made to run on a modern computer?
2 AnswersVideo & Online Games9 years agoHow does the facebook "wall" work?
Some time ago I received a message from a friend and responded, and was surprised to get more responses from other people. It turns out that everything you say seems to be public. I'm glad that conversation wasn't too personal... Does this mean everything I post goes on everyone's walls that I am friends with?
If I'm playing facebook games and it posts information, does it post to everyone, or just game friends, or only on my wall? I've been playing games lately and I notice my wall is looking pretty spammy, and it gets hard to distinguish real messages from all that game crap that keeps appearing. Will it look this way to my other facebook friends who don't play games, or just to me?
If you have real game requests from neighbors, you have to post something, so I don't want to block game posts completely. Is there a way I can eliminate a lot of the junk posts from games, though, or make it so that only others playing the same game can see it?
3 AnswersFacebook9 years agoHow do you take back a facebook game invitation?
I've invited several of my facebook friends to be neighbors in a game. Some don't want to play (it's fine, I'm not offended), but facebook keeps spamming them every time I press "select all" for sending game gifts and requests, etc.
If someone hasn't accepted a neighbor invite, why is facebook assuming they care what I'm doing in the game? I don't see a button for "uninvite" for the sake of those not interested. :(
1 AnswerFacebook9 years agoCan I remove an active debt from collections?
I just found out that a company sent a bill to collections after I had talked to them about a payment plan. Apparantly they had called to get me to come in and actually sign paperwork over the payment plan, but because I didn't within the next couple of days, they sent it to a collections agency.
Does this mean it is going on my credit report? Is there any way at this point to just pay the debt and get it off my credit report or is this seriously going to be a permanent negative on my credit?
4 AnswersCredit9 years agofacebook won't let me log in?
For the last few days, when I try to log in it repeatedly pops up a screen saying, "Secure Your Account. It looks like you downloaded software that is affecting your Facebook account and showing you unauthorized ads. We'll walk you through a few steps that will remove the software and secure your account."
It does not give me a choice to skip this option, and if I follow it through it wants me to download something it claims is McCaffrey. But I already have Avast system on my computer and it has not detected any viruses.
I want to report this to facebook and see if it is valid, but I can't even do that without being able to log in!
7 AnswersFacebook9 years agoWhy doesn't my dog like dog food?
We got our new dog from the pound about a month ago, he is about a year old and believed to be a jack russell chihuahua mix. I feed him blue wilderness, just like my other dog, because I believe dogs were meant to have a grain free diet. But good luck explaining to him why he needs to eat expensive dog food.
He prefers human food - anything he can steal from the counter (he jumps to knock down anything on the edge), unpacked groceries, or garbage. I know the obvious answer is to keep our food out of his reach, but he eats his own food reluctantly, only as a last resort when he realizes he isn't getting anything else. He does like canned meat, just not the dry food.
Is this an issue training will resolve, or is it worth trying a different diet?
4 AnswersDogs9 years agoSwitch from Verizon to Sprint?
I've had Verizon Wireless since Alltel was bought out by them, but recently have had some issues with my phone and their customer service. Not to mention that my Verizon bill is higher than any of my utilities, it is just way too expensive for a family plan.
Sprint seems to offer similar service for much less. Is it worth it to switch, or is there a catch?
1 AnswerCell Phones & Plans10 years agoWhen is enough enough?
I haven't posted here in a while, then I find myself posting two answers in a row involving my dog's behavioral problems. I guess that says something about my mindset right now.
I got my dog from a shelter a few months ago. He's 62 lbs and around 2 years old now. He's a true mutt, his breed mix is hard to place. He is definately part Ridgeback because, well, he has a ridgeback. He also may have some Shepherd, and some Akita, not really sure.
He's gentle and social with people of all ages, cats, and other dogs. But he is a destructive chewer who has ruined a carpet, almost all of my blinds over time, a couple of window screens, and miscellaneous toys and pieces of plastic. He also escapes regularly, both from the house and the walled yard. He's not really trying to "get away", he just loves to roam and he seems to enjoy the thrill of the chase as people try to catch him.
I don't know how to exercise him enough. We walk about an hour a day, but once I took him on a several hour hike that wore me out, and he still was not tired when we got back. I am considering getting a bicycle and having him run along, because he would get much more exercise than walking.
I've also considered hiring a trainer to come into our home and work with us on his escaping issues and his destructive chewing. But we are moving in a month and I don't know that this is a good time. Is it a worthy investment anyway? I have spent so much money on this dog with his damages, and so much time chasing him, that I've about given up on him. I've taken him to basic obedience classes at Petsmart. The trainer we had was very good with dogs, and very patient, but those classes are geared toward puppy training, not retraining an older dog with established bad habits.
He's so sweet and gentle, but so are many other dogs that don't have unmanageable behaviors. Unfortunately, I feel I've gotten in over my head with him. I had never trained a dog before getting him, I grew up with yard dogs. He's definately not a "beginner" dog, but I didn't really realize the importance of behavioral management experience before getting him. :( I feel I have failed as a dog owner because I haven't adequately trained him. If I give him up, should I even consider another dog, or just accept that I'm not meant to be a dog owner?
I'm at my wit's end...
21 AnswersDogs10 years agoHow can I reinforce a wall?
My dog just knocked over a section of the wall adjoining our backyard gate in an attempt to get out. :( I hadn't realized until then exactly how feeble our walls are. Our neighborhood is one of those where all the yards are built with the same style wall for a uniform appearance, so I can't change the type of wall it is.
The wall doesn't seem to be real brick at all, it's almost like a hollowed out concrete made to look thicker and heavier than it is. What can I do to repair this wall and make it stronger without changing it's appearance (so the homeowner's association will still be happy)?
Seriously, a tall chain link fence would probably be stronger than this wall and more efficient at containing the dog. I don't have that option though.
3 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)10 years agoSocial Empires for PC?
I like some of Facebook's games and lately have really gotten into Social Empires. But while these games tend to start off fun and easy, they can potentially get expensive after a while.
Are there any similar games that can be bought for a computer or wii? I would rather pay an upfront cost for a game I can play indefinately than be nickel-and-dimed on Facebook.
1 AnswerVideo & Online Games10 years agoA good second dog for kids - considering basset hound or pug?
A few months ago, I got a 60+lb mutt from the shelter that I have become very attached to. I hike and walk with him frequently, and he is good with kids and cats. But my kids (preteens) have trouble "managing" him, and have been talking about wanting a smaller dog. I've thought about getting another small dog to be a good companion to both the kids and the dog we have.
My kids have a beagle at their dad's house that they rave about, but I don't really have a thing for beagles. :( What about a basset hound or pug? Those breeds may be too small for our current dog to romp around with, but one could keep him company. Would those breeds be easier for kids to walk, handle, and help to train? Do they tend toward separation anxiety or destructive chewing, or any behavioral problems, or can they be calm dogs?
10 AnswersDogs10 years agocrate for an escape artist?
I got my dog from the shelter about 3 months ago. I don't know his breed, he's a true mutt. He's almost 2 years old, over 60 lbs, and has separation anxiety. Most of his behaviors have improved over time, and I was developing confidence in him.
Until yesterday, when I came home from work to find he had dug through the carpet right down to the tile underneath. He had never done serious damage to the house, I wasn't expecting this, but now I'm really upset with him.
I want to put him in a crate while I'm at work. The reason he's in the house in the first place is because he escapes from the yard when I'm not home. But how do I know what crate will keep him in? He is strong and if determined, I can see him breaking out, or digging or chewing his way out. I know people always say positive things about crates, how it helps dogs feel secure, etc. I just don't want to make the investment only to find my dog managing to destroy it too.
3 AnswersDogs10 years agoWhat do dogs call each other?
Dogs respond so readily to the name their owner gives them, but they don't "talk" to each other like that. So what do they call each other, when looking for a fellow dog or a particular friend?
