Can anyone provide information about whether it is legal or not for an employer to force you to sign an employment contract in the state of South Carolina?

I work for a private school and the rumor is that we will soon be forced to sign a contract that threatens us with being sued if we leave to work for another institution of education. A former employee of the school I work at will soon be opening her own private preschool and basically our general manager does not want anyone to leave to go and work for her.

If we refuse to sign this contract, is it illegal to fire us for that? To my understanding, South Carolina is an "at-will" work state and no reason has to be provided for termination. But should we chose to sign the contract, is this in violation of any law.

I got a pay out from a 401k from a previous employer. It's a check for under $1,000 but I can't decide what a more practical use for the money would be. Should I invest it in my rollerover IRA for retirement (I'm only 28 and that's my only retirement savings vehicle and I don't make many contributions to it), or should the money go towards paying some bills and paying off a couple of small credit cards and then spending the remainder on myself?

I'm just looking for some opinions of what others would do.

The summer is coming up and I want one that will hold up in the heat, and doesn't leave those disgusting white marks (because I don't want to ruin my nice black shirts) or clumps under my arms. If someone's question violates the terms of agreement do you report them? Why or why not? Just curious to see how many are on each side of the fence.

Does anyone have any suggestions to help me not shrink my boyfriend's clothes when wasthing them? I wash them all in cold water and I dry them the same as my clothes and mine don't seem to be shrinking. I have tried on no heat and then medium heat, but they still seem to get smaller.
