How do you tell your co-workers to stop talking and get back to work?
I work for the local government. At work, my cubicle is next to three co-workers. They're Chinese. Every now and then, a couple of co-workers from across the hall visit and they all end up talking to one another in their native language. I don't understand what they're saying. Frankly, I don't care what they're talking about. What I do care about is that when they get somewhat loud, it's providing a distraction for me. Is there a way for me to settle this with all 5 of them (3 of which are women) without one of them getting angry at me and the boss not having to know about it? I just want to tell them that when they all group together near my area and they start talking Chinese, they are distracting me from my work. I just want them to shut the eff up and get back to work. Or if they want to carry a conversation, do it somewhere where nobody will be bothered by it.
Now before any of you reading this will respond by telling me how racist I am, let me tell you that I would be similarly annoyed if they were Mexican, Armenian, black and white.
1 AnswerOther - Business & Finance1 decade agoWhen will the Cavs lose their first game in the playoffs/finals?
And which team will give it to them?
I think Boston or Orlando is good enough to steal a win from the Cavs.
What do you think?
15 AnswersBasketball1 decade agoWhy do couples worry about different things?
My wife is worried that I will cheat on her someday, meanwhile, I'm worried that she'll misuse her and our credit cards and make it difficult for us -- financially -- in the future.
Is this normal? Women generally focus more on emotional/psychological matters (i.e. fidelity, faithfulness, love, etc.) while men generally focus more on practical issues (i.e. financial obligations, house maintenance, car upkeep, credit scores and ratings, etc.)
And lastly... how can we strike a balance to satisfy each others' needs?

1 AnswerOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoWhy does my computer tell me there's a flash drive attached when there isn't?
When I turn on my computer, a flash drive icon on the tray shows up (it's a gray rectangle with a green splash on the top).
How do I correct this problem? It's quite a hassle "removing" the phantom flash drives prior to attaching legitimate flash drives.
(I have this problem on two of my computers - one has Vista and the other has XP.)

I was reading this article about the alleged corruption during the NBA playoffs several years ago.
http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/8236340/Ref's-c...
It got me wondering why other sports like tennis and football have already adopted instant replay to improve the purity of the game, while the NBA hasn't done it. Is it because corrupt NBA execs want the option of fixing a series for financial gain?

3 AnswersOther - Entertainment1 decade agoHow come I always have to changes my display settings to get my second monitor to work?
I purchased a Tritton SEE2 USB 2.0 to VGA Adapter and I'm wondering if it's normal for me to always changes my display settings to get my second monitor to turn on. I had the impression that both monitors are supposed to turn on whenever I turn on the computer.
Thanks for your help.

3 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoIf I drive a 2-seater, am I allowed in the carpool lane intended for 3 or more passengers?
I live at Southern California. I take the 10 freeway headed to Los Angeles. There's about a 10-mile stretch of carpool. A requirement in the carpool is that between the hours of 4AM - 9AM and 4PM - 7PM between Mon-Fri, only 3 or more passengers are allowed in the lane.
Since I drive a 2-seater, does this mean I'm never allowed to use the carpool when I need to? (Please cite a source for your answer) Thanks.
4 AnswersCommuting1 decade agoWhat is the accounting treatment for reimbursable expenses?
I work for a law firm. Often, the attorneys pay in advance any costs they incur on behalf of a client (i.e. court parking fee, legal research fees, court filing fees, etc.) and bill the client afterwards.
I know that when clients reimburse the attorney, it's not considered income.
So what should the accounting entry for this transaction be like?
I was thinking...
DR Advanced Client Costs (Other Asset)
CR Cash (Current Asset)
To record expenditure of an atty on behalf of a client
Then...
DR Cash (Current Asset)
CR Advanced Client Costs (Other Asset)
To record payment of client for a reimbursable expenditure.
Am I correct?
