I'm a Dutch agnostic/atheist. (I'm unconcerned with the terminology.) Half the country or less is religious, half my family is also religious. Now, mostly things are pretty laid back here. You can talk to Christians if you want. Catholics and moderate protestants understand my point of view, even though they don't share it. Only a tiny percentage of the hard core protestants would reproduce the same old jaded attacks I see here. Now, I know this is an English speaking site, and it seems to me that American atheists are bitter and vicious online a lot. In fact I'd not like to be around them. The Christians are really hard core and use the same old stuff that was refuted or found irrelevant fifty years ago. They also like to take little stabs as if atheists are inferior people. It's easy to belong to the majority I guess. So, this makes me wonder. Are there any reasonable people online and if so, they do all get snowed under? Secondly, aren't you ashamed how this section is making you look? If this section would be slightly representative of the actual population, I should never want to go on vacation to the US ever.

I'm trying to make a basic web site, but I'm very new to it all. Also I hardly have any supporting software.

I thought I was doing something wrong. Whenever I upload something to my web space, I always see the actual FILE, and not the text In that file. Now I thought it would be better if I used a FTP program, but actually that program is doing the same what I did manually.

Is there something wrong with my files? They're common files with a text extension and ANSI coding.

I still want to do this on my own, but need a little help. If I need more material, links to free software are much appreciated.

I'm trying to build a basic website. The problem is, I don't know a lot about it, am just learning some basic html. I do not have any software, just IE and Windows XP.

Now, whenever I make a basic html file and try to upload it to my web space, Windows won't let me. It just tells me to upload it to msn web space, and that is not what I'm interested in. Windows is aware of the web space, the wizard just doesn't offer it.

I need some help from an actual person. If you need me to download something like a FTP program that is fine, I'm just not going to pay for it. (I know I ask a lot.) I'd like to do it all by myself, I know where I can get pre cooked websites.

I'm a little troubled by the grits. I mean, why would anyone be carrying around tiny bits of rock? What can it be, some kind of food?
