  • How to deal with pushy sister in law?

My sister in law keeps making hints and little comments about me babysitting for her. We're about the same age but she's a stay at home mom of 2 and I have no kids and have a job...and don't like kids very much.

I think it's annoying for her to keep making those comments because like I said, I work 40 hrs. per week and she stays home. She has her parents, my in laws already babysitting for them when they want to go out and a neighbor kid who babysits, I've already declined although not as forcefully as I should because I want to keep things nice between us for my husband's sake.

Any ideas on how I should handle this next time she says: "You could babysit for us one day"

  • Metformin and high blood sugar? ?

I was put on Metformin for PCOS not diabetes, I started taking 1/2 of a 500mg. metformin pill yesterday afternoon and then another half this AM after breakfast.

At around 10-11 am (2-3 hrs after taking today's pill) I noticed I was going to the bathroom a lot to pee, and the more I peed the more I felt thirsty. It was ridiculous, and then I started to feel nauseous, dizzy and tired...but still cotton mouthed and going to the bathroom.

Called the doctor and he said this shouldn't happen with Metformin and kinda blew me off. I told him I am not taking the next dose and see how I feel.

I googled the side effects if metformin and I did find it could cause high or low blood sugar.

    Anybody else having this issue?

How do I lower my blood sugar??

  • Is it worth it to keep our home?

Bought our 1100 sq. ft. house in early '06, paid $225K which was reasonable at the time. We were happy and a year later we were offered a home equity loan which we took to make some improvements and pay off our car, etc. That's when the market went to hell and now a few years later here we are bankrupt but still have the house. The value now is, according to zillow.com $150K

I know to most it'll be easy to reply "Lose the house" but in my mind I know we will never be able to afford another house and that's why I'm clinging to this one even if we're upside down and going through bankruptcy to clear the equity loan and other things while keeping the house.

Is this the biggest mistake ever?? Or is my reasoning acceptable?

  • How can I deal with our neighbor and her loud children?

She's a single parent, has 3 kids between 4-7, they live behind us. These kids are louder than most kids, they don't just play but constantly fight and cry and whine and have a small dog who they chase and cause it to bark non stop. I understand they're kids and when kids play they're loud but this happens every day from 5pm until 9 or 10pm and I can't enjoy my backyard b/c of this.

I never hear their mom go out there and tell them to keep it down or check on them, so it's kind of like a lord of the flies situation, they just do what they want.

They've gotten so loud that I've thought of walking over to their house and having a talk with the mom. I don't want to start a war and possibly make matters worse.

    What should I do?

  • Why is it so hard to make and keep friends??!?

I'm in my 30s, been living in the US for almost 20 years so I didn't get to make friends here in school, etc.

I have "friends" at work, I thought I was making friends at this social club I belong to but every time they get together I am not invited, some of the women don't even hide it, they'll invite each other in front of me. And it really hurts my feelings. But when they see me they seem happy to be with me and talk to me.

I feel like I'm back in high school!

I have never been the popular girl, people don't naturally gravitate toward me but I used to be able to make friends.

What does a person have to do to be liked around here??

    This is pathetic I know…

  • where can i find natas in the us (Seattle area)?

Natas is what in Mexico we call the layer of cream that forms after you boil and cool raw milk. I'm pretty sure it's similar to what the English call clotted cream.

I know most dairies and creameries aren't allowed to sell raw milk (thanks to stupid lawsuits by stupid people I guess) but once they pasteurize the milk do they get that cream on top and throw it away or what happens to it?

  • Will my All Clad stainless steel cookware stain?

I know this is kind of silly since it's supposed to be "Stainless Steel" but in the past when I've made things like Mole, spaghetti, etc. other (cheaper) cookware has stained in the process.

Just got my AllClad and they're my babies. Other Do's and Don'ts with All Clad I should know about?

  • Is All Clad All That?

I'm looking for a good set of pots and pans, I am able to spend a little more than usual and I want to buy something good that will last me many, many years. I've always wanted to purchase All Clad cookware since it's some of the best stuff out there but now I'm debating with myself if that is a great choice or should I consider other brands.

  • How do I talk to a young guy about drugs?

He's my nephew and I just found out he might be doing cocaine. I really love him and he trusts and likes me a lot but I know if I ask him up front about it he'll clam up and probably will never talk to me.

I need to get him to understand that what he's doing is bad for him.

    Any ideas?

  • Why does Yahoo! Answers penalize people....?

The other day I saw a question posted that I thought was rude and threatening, something to do with the AZ shootings and the person was saying something that to me it read like he sympathized with the shooter so I called him an idiot and yahoo answers erased my answer and took away points...don't know if they removed the question but what gives? A person can't tell and idiot that he's an idiot?

  • Where could I buy or find a recipe for this salsa?

I have only seen it in Mexico, it's made with toasted chile de arbol and nuts ( I think cashews but not too sure) so the ending product is a very spicy, toasty and nutty flavorful paste you can use to cook or add it to already cooked meals. I cannot find it here in the Seattle area and I tried googling the recipe but I'm getting nowhere.

    Help!
