  • When to stop putting money in a car?

I have 2007 Ford Explorer with 90k miles. I took it in to a dealer 1 month ago because it was squeaking and they replaced the serpentine belt and tensioners for $350. It was squeaking again yesterday so I took it in and they said they have to replace the harmonic damper for $800. Now they call and say they found a leak in the radiator so that will be another $700 to replace.

I don't know what to do...I feel like they will just tell me I need something else in a month. At what point should I stop putting money in a car?

  • Monitor isn't working with my new Dell.?

I use a ViewSonic VS15032 with my laptop (using a blue VGA 15-pin connector) and it works fine. But I just got a new Dell desktop and when I plug it in, the monitor just says "No Signal".

Any idea what's wrong? The computer sounds like it turns on and the keyboard/mouse light up.

  • Example of a successful health campaign?

I'm writing a report and need an example of a successful public health campaign. Something like a flu vaccine campaign. But the tricky part is I need something that has numbers to back it up. Like "x number of people were not vaccinated, then this campaign happened, and now y people are vaccinated."

Any ideas? I've searched through a lot of academic journals but am not having much luck.

  • Is $50,000 a good salary for a consultant in DC?

I just got promoted at my job in DC to a consultant (which I'm very happy about). However, my boss just handed me a contract to sign for $50,000 a year. This seems a little low to me, especially because I'll be required to work 50 hours a week and travel to some dangerous countries. I was thinking I should be making something in the $70,000 range...

Am I asking too much, or is my boss trying to lowball me? What can I do about it?

  • Should I go to Afghanistan for work?

I recently got a big promotion at work (from just being an assistant before for about a year). It seems like a really great opportunity with great pay and interesting work. But the caveat is that I will have to travel to Afghanistan next month for some work. It should only be for 2 weeks, but one of the places I'm scheduled to work in is Kandahar...

What should I do? On the one hand 2 weeks isn't too bad to secure a really great job and provide for my family. On the other hand, all that goes out the window if I get killed or worse...your thoughts?

    Chrono Trigger

    Chrono Cross

    Threads of Fate

    Suikoden

    Secret of Mana

    Grandia

    Final Fantasy 4-9

  • Dragon armor in skyrim?

I was using fully upgraded Steel plate armor in Skyrim and it worked well for me. Then I forged a set of Dragonbone armor, fully upgraded, but now when enemies hit me, it seems like they do way more damage...?

Do the enemies hit harder because they "know" I have a higher set of armor on?

  • Getting a job with a Congressman?

Would anyone know how a person goes about getting a job with a Congressman or Senator? I've been looking on several members websites, but there doesn't seem to be any information on it.

Would it be one of those things where you should volunteer for them for a while and then you might get asked? I was just hoping that there would be a more direct way to apply...

  • Can I walk/run on a sprained ankle after 2 weeks?

I'm pretty sure I sprained my ankle running about 2 weeks ago. I can walk on it and move it in all directions just fine, it just still hurts a bit when I put pressure on it.

I've read some articles that say don't do anything on it for 6 weeks, and others that say you have to move and exercise it or else it will get too tight. Any suggestions?

  • How to sell an ipod Nano?

I won a brand new silver ipod Nano in a work raffle, but I already have an mp3 player so I'm looking to get rid of it. I went to GameStop since they had an ad that says I could trade it in for games. But when I got there, the clerk told me he couldn't take it because it was unopened and I may have stolen it!! Wtf?

Do you think I could get anything for it on Ebay? It just looks like there are so many (real and fake) ones being sold on there, that I'm not sure if I could get much for it....Should I just take it out of the packaging and try to sell it at a different Gamestop?

    Thanks!

  • Do I have to take my shoes out of my bag at the airport?

I know I have to take the shoes I'm wearing off before I go through the metal detector, but I have an extra pair of sneakers in my carry on bag. Do I have to unpack those, or can I just leave them in the bag?

  • What is the criteria for libel in an Op-ed?

My wife and I want to write an Op-Ed in our local paper about the terrible apartment complex we are in (we are planning on moving out before we write it).

But I'm always worried about someone flipping out and trying to sue for libel. It has to be a lie for it to be libel, right? So if every claim we make it backed up, they can't do anything, correct? What if it's my own opinion ("No one should rent an apartment here, because it is a bad place to live")

    Thanks!

  • Which PS1 rpg should I get?

I've got 10 bucks to spend at the PSN on my PSP, and I see they have a bunch of old RPG's for $9.99:

    Xenogears

    Vagrant Story

Chrono Trigger (originally on the SNES, I know)

    Grandia

Which do you think I should get? I've always heard Chrono Trigger is awesome, but I've really wanted to try Xenogears too....

  • Excel help! Removing names from a list!?

    Hi all,

I have sent out a survey to a list of email address (in the thousands). I also have a list of who has responded. Now I am trying to figure out how to get a list of the people who have not yet responded. Any ideas? Is there a way to "delete" names on one list from another so I'm left with those who have not responded?

    Thanks!

  • Will I get the job I applied for?

    Hi all,

I just applied for a totally sweet job yesterday. I was hoping the Y!A community could use their combined psychic powers to let me know if I'll get the job or not. It would certainly be helpful!

And if you want to throw in tomorrow's Powerball numbers, that would help too ;)

    Thanks!

  • Good place to live in Baltimore?

My wife and I are moving to Baltimore for school this summer (U of MD- Baltimore). Any suggestions on good places to live? We're probably going for a one or two bedroom apartment, and were hoping to find something safe and reasonably priced.

BQ: I've heard nothing but horror stories about crime in Baltimore. Is it really that bad?

  • Can I keep cut flowers in the refrigerator?

I just picked up a bouquet of flowers for my wife but then learned that she won't be home until tomorrow. Can I just leave them on the table, or should I stick them in the fridge?

Bonus question: I don't think there is a vase, they are just in a cardboard box with newspaper around it, but it feels like something heavy at the bottom. Should I leave it like that, or can I just unwrap the newspaper and stick them in a vase? Thanks!
