  • Siesta Key, why do your hotels suck so bad? Anyone?

Okay, I'm really wanting to go to a Florida beach this summer for vacation! I have looked all over the place, tripadvisor, yahoo travel, google, everywhere. I cannot find a good place to stay. All of the hotels/condos/etc seem to have sub-standard decor. The rooms all look like they came out of the 80's.

We really want to stay in Siesta Key. I've heard that their beaches are the best in Florida, and possibly even best in the states.

Can you help me? Do you know any places that you have loved to stay? At this point, I'd even take any hotel in Florida that you loved.

    Our hopes:

On the beach, needs to be a 2 bdrm suite, with pool

  • Do I have to itemize if I take the standard Foreign Per Diem rate?

I went overseas on business for 2 weeks and I have GOBS of reciepts. Do I have to item on my tax return, or can I just take the standard Foreign Per Diem rate on my tax return?

Also, If I count up my deductions and it is higher than the standard rate, can I itemize and take the higher number? Or dis the Foreign Per Diem the max amount allowed?

Lastly, is it correct that the foreign rate only applies to food and lodging? I went to several museums and library's for my work and wondered if I would claim those seperately?

  • Should I call my doctor about my symptoms?

I had my last period on 9/21 and got a positive pregnancy test on 10/22. First test was extremely positive. Took a test in the two days that followed and they were very faint positive. (different brand tests)

Just a few days later I am already a little nervous. I have been cramping slightly (nothing major) since 10/19 and was worried about that...everyone seems to think it's pretty normal in the posts I've read to experience that in the first trimester so I decided not to worry. However today I noticed a brown tinged tissue (very slight) after wiping.

My first appt with the OB isn't until 11/10 so I'm not sure if I should just ride it out till then and see what happens...or if I should call the doctor. I haven't had many pregnancy symptoms...no nausea, only slight breast tenderness and fatigue.

    What do you think?

  • My Ipod won't turn on! Help!?

So...I dropped it. But not a very long distance...nothing cracking, nothing broke...it kept right on playing the song I was on. Then, I walked into work and had to turn it off and put it in my purse. When I got it out of my purse that night...it wouldn't turn on. When I plug it in my computer doesn't even recognize it...

Has this happened to anyone before? I don't have a service warranty so to fix it with apple would cost $100....and I might as well buy a new one. Any ideas or suggestions?

  • Career change, thinking of teaching...?

SO, I am thinking of a complete career change. I have a degree in journalism and currently work within the same field.

In that I have a college degree, I wondered if it was possible to take exams necessary to get a teacher's license. Do I have to have the specific college degree as well? It's not that I'm trying to get by easy, it's just that I currently have a full time job and have already been through school. The thought of more student loans and full time school sounds impossible while working and bringing in an income.

    I'm specifically considering 4-5th grade.

    Any thoughts??

  • What is this constant tingling in my bottom teeth??

I have a constant tingling in my lower front two teeth. It doesn't spread through the whole mouth...just those two teeth! It's lasted about 36 hours now...it started before I went to bed night before last.

To explain the tingling...it feels a lot like tooth sensitivity when you bite into something cold, etc.

It's not so bad it's keeping me up at night...just really nagging in the daytime. I thought it was sinus related at first...but then I realized I was on antibiotic last week that would have killed a sinus infection.

    What the heck??

  • We have a mold problem...and it's black! Help!?

My husband and I are remodeling our kitchen. We are both pretty handy so we are doing most of the work ourselves, with help from a contractor on the major parts.

Demo started and there is mold in the drywall and on the bottom half of some of the beams/wood/studs. We are re-constructing most of the kitchen, so any mold we can see will be completely out of the house soon anyway.

The mold is black, does that mean it's BLACK MOLD? Also, are we safe in the mean time until it's all gone and the new materials are in place...it's exposed?

  • How quick is an auto insurance company to drop you?

I have had 3 claims in 4 years, however, only 1 claim with my current insurance company. None of the three claims were huge...one wasn't even my fault, I was the victim of a hit and run.

Anyway...How does getting dropped work? How frequently do you have to wreck, how many wrecks give you a "high wreck average"??

As a side note...i've never received traffic ticket, so I'm clean in that area...

  • Can an insurance company drop your auto insurance any time?

I have had 3 claims in 4 years. The first two claims where while living in another state. I since moved and just put in my third claim today (first claim with this company). My insurance payment really isn't all that high, about $75 monthly. The lady told me today that it would go up 10% if the cost was over $750. (it will be)

She said this didn't effect my insurability or anything, but what if I had another accident in a year??

The real question is, can an insurance company drop you for any reason at any time? Some have said no, only within the first 60 days, others say yes, absolutely any time.

    What's the right answer?

  • We have asbestos in our Linoleum...now what?

We are remodeling our kitchen and on a hunch I decided to have our linoleum tested for asbestos before we just started ripping it up. Well, we tested it, and the glue did test positive for asbestos. People keep telling us there are ways of removal to "do it yourself," however that really freaks me out. I don't want to die of some kind of asbestos poisoning to save some bucks.

Has anyone done this themselves or faced this problem? How do you remove asbestos linoleum yourself?

I have been crappy feeling for a week now...any of this sound like something you've had??

    1. Fatigue

    2. Naussia that comes and goes

    3. Headache

    4. Lower than normal body temp

    5. Sore throat and tight chest

Some of these may be related and some may seperate issues. For example...maybe my throat just hurts cause it's -1 degrees outside...BUT, they may all be linked...who can know.

Please help! It's been going on for a week, I'll start to feel better, then afternoon hits and I head back downhill again...

  • Should I close my credit card?

When I was in college I was tricked into filling out a credit card application for a free smoothie. DUMB!

Anyway, I have a great credit score, about 750, and only 2 cards I have ever actively used. Both are currently at zero balance but I keep them cause they have good history.

Now, the real question...the card I got in college actually has the largest credit limit of all, but I have never used it a single time. In that I have the other 2 cards with good history, should I close the one I've never used, or should I just ignore it? I don't want to do anything negative for my score, but I don't like having a larger credit limit card just floating around either.

  • Which is harder, GRE or GMAT?

I took the GRE in my last semester of schooling because I planned on going to grad school for advertising. I did well enough to make it into a great school, but decided to go into the workforce and make money at the last minute.

Here I am, little older, little wiser and considering grad school again, only in business instead. THUS, the GMAT is necessary. I personally found the GRE really tough, and now that I have been out of school for 3 years, feel like it could only be worse.

Please tell me the GMAT is easier than the GRE!!!

  • What is the average price per square foot of a home?

My husband and I bought a home this past summer and we got a great deal on it. We paid about $62 a square foot and it is worth more than that. We are thinking of doing a kitchen remodel because the kitchen is the only piece really dragging down the value of the home.

We plan to live in the house 4 more years, and the kitchen remodel will cost about $30,000. For all the work that will be done, this is actually a really low cost.

Here's the problem...just to break even on the house (if we do the remodel), we'd have to sell for $74 a square foot. We live in a modest town in Indiana and I'm not sure what is average around here. The house is older, but everything is fresh and new and very chic...but I'm not sure if it could compete with houses built in 2000+ just because a new house is more appealing. HELP!?

  • Why does my water softener stink?

We have never had a water softener before, but we just bought a new house and we keep getting these weird smells from it! Some days you don't smell it at all, other days...it's in the WHOLE house.

We have had the house a month, and we haven't put the salt in it yet. We just found out yesterday that we even need to do that.... What is causing that smell, and how can we get rid of it? (it kind of smells of sulfer)

  • What percentage of my salary should go toward bills?

I am working on my budget and I wanted to know what the general public thought was right.

I have always heard that your house payment should only be a certain percentage of your income, but I can't remember what it is...

Anyway...What percentage should all of your payments, meaning debt, bills, house, etc... take up. What is a good situation, an okay situation, and a bad situation?
