  • Why Post Brexit will UK passports not be printed in UK but in Europe?

Here is a bit of news the UK government didn't want you to hear and have tried to keep very quiet.

UK passports and bank notes have always been printed and issued in UK by British Company De La Rue. They also print passports and currency for several countries worldwide.

Surprisingly it turns out that back in 2019 after brexit was secured their contract for issuing UK passports was mysteriously cancelled and given to a French/Dutch Company Gemalto, now trading as Thales DIS.

Am I the only person who thinks it rather strange that a UK business that prints passports and currency for countries worldwide will no longer print UK passports?

Or is it like in so many other instances, government contracts have been removed from long standing suppliers and given to other companies that are owned by people who are friends or associates of conservative MP's?

  • IsTrump Still insisting he is President?

Trump was beaten fair and square. Instead of trying all these underhand and ridiculous things why doesn't he step aside with what little dignity he has left?

It was a joke that America ever elected him and a bigger one that he has now been defeated but is trying anything to ignore the views of the American people.

    What credibility has he left?

Why does he not just say OK I lost, time to go.

  • If you were Stanley Johnson would you be asking for a refund?

Boris Johnson's education cost almost £300,000. And look at him. Do you think that only the rich make it into high office in government or anyone can?

Johnson can't string a sentence together without a 'hmm, ha, bah, wuf' thrown in. He sounds like he has Tourette syndrome.

Is that the best the UK private UK education system has to offer? If I was his father I would be demanding a refund.

  • Is Trump for real?

So Trump has had a Facebook video removed and his Twitter account suspended again for inaccurate, misleading and dangerous content after he said young children were immune from catching Covid-19.

His own medical advisers have again been forced to release a statement saying that is not the case. They may be less susceptible to serious illness but are no less likely to catch it and pass it on to adults.

Does his idiocy know no bounds?

  • Is the UK Government institutionally racist?

First we have many of Johnson's racist comments over the years (google them). Then we have him appointing Murina Mirza to head up a commission into institutionalised racism in UK when she has repeatedly stated it does not exist and is just a 'perception' in the minds of a minority of BAME people.

Now it has emerged that Home Secretary Pritti Patel is friends with Philip Smith, a failed Tory local election candidate who helped organise last weekends counter protests by extremist white wing EDL, Britain First and the stupidly named Democratic Football Lads Alliance.

How can the government launch an enquiry into institutionalised racism when it is rotten with it from the very top to it's supporters.

  • Trump is at it again does he have zero intelligence?

Following on from his ridiculous statements that shining a halogen lamp up your back side and injecting disinfectant would cure Covid-19, he has said that USA is winning as the number of cases has fallen without mentioning the number tests has also fallen so with less tests you are going to obviously get less positive results.

Now his latest claim on live TV was there is a vaccine for AIDS????

Is this man fit to be allowed out of home unsupervised let alone be supposedly the most powerful man in the world?

  • Did white Britain wake up proud this morning?

Did white people in UK wake up today proud after the very predictable scenes on our streets yesterday when right wing extremists the English Defence League and Britain First team up with football hooligans as the self appointed 'protectors of our heritage'.

I didn't see much protecting of statues and monuments. Seemed to me they all turned up early already drunk, then continued drinking throughout the day and spent all day violently attacking the police, press photographers and anyone else who got in their way and urinating on a memorial to a policeman murdered by terrorists.

I am white and they do not represent me and are not protecting my heritage with their actions.

Are you proud and think their actions were justified, or are you appalled and shamed yet strangely not surprised by what happened?

  • Is trump for real (again)?

Trump has said that the Democratic governors and mayors of cities with demonstrations because of the killing of George Floyd are weak and the whole world is laughing at them for not quelling the protests.

    What planet is he on?

Does he not realise that the whole world laughs at him every time he opens his mouth or posts a tweet.

While this is no laughing matter are the Democrat governors or mayors where they have protests but don't bring in the National Guard or instruct their police to use excessive force to stop the protests the joke?

Or as I suspect, is the whole world laughing at Trump himself and America in general because he is the best person they could come up with to be their leader?

  • Were Twitter right to censor Trump latest outrageous Tweet?

Trump has had a tweet warning people protesting in Minneapolis over the death of George Floyd while being restrained by Police saying they could be shot.

This comes after two recent tweets flagged with a warning which fact-checked the claim that mail-in voting would lead to widespread fraud.

Trump has responded by signing a new executive order giving authorities more control over social media sites.

In your opinion were Twitter right in flagging Trumps Tweets or should he be allowed to say what he wants without censorship?

  • Has Dominic Cummings got to go or be sacked over his breach of lock down?

Cummings is Boris Johnson's top adviser but despite both him and his wife showing symptoms of Covid-19 he took his wife and children 260 miles from their London home to his family home in Durham. A clear breach of the Governments own insistence that such travel was not permitted.

Cummings response is that as he and his wife both possibly had the virus he was taking his children to his family so they could look after them.

Around the time this happened I drove my 86 year old father twenty miles in to the Durham countryside from our home. Even though neither of us had symptoms we didn't get out of the car just went for a change of scenery. We were stopped by the police and told to return home as it was not acceptable to travel more than a reasonable distance from home and twenty mile was not reasonable.

How come it was not OK for us without any symptoms to go 20 miles but is OK for Cummings and his wife who both either had or suspected they had the virus to travel 260 miles.

This stinks of a government saying 'Do as we say not as we do. We make the rules and laws but they do not apply to us'.

Should Cummings step down or should Johnson sack him? Also when was Johnson made aware of Cummings actions and did he give approval?

  • Does Trumps idiocy never stop?

First we had the shine a halogen torch up your backside and inject disinfectant (which will kill you).

Then it was take hydroxychloroquine a treatment for Malaria which again if taken without medical supervision will kill you.

Now he is claiming America's infection and death rate is a victory for America that it has been able to identify so many people who are infected and identify Covid-19 as the cause of the deaths of those who have tragically passed away.

What planet is this man on?

  • Why is Boris Johnson misleading the public about it being safe to return to work and go to school?

Boris Johnson has told people who can't work from home to return to work if their place of work is open for business. He has said this is based on the best scientific advice and that as long as people use common sense it is safe to do so.

He is also insisting schools should reopen from 1st June again as it is safe to do so.

I work for DWP on night shift and have worked throughout lock down as I could not do my job from home. But many of my day shift colleagues have been sitting at home for 2 months on full pay doing nothing.

With all the people losing their jobs and claiming benefits (over 2,000,000 since lock down began) I would have thought the DWP would have a we are essential workers and have a all hands on deck approach.

But my colleagues have been told by their bosses that benefit payment is not a government priority and they should not expect to return to work until it is safe to do so and to not expect to return until New Year.

How is it safe for joe public to return to work and schools to reopen but not safe for the governments own employees to return?

  • Having problems with YA on Microsoft Edge any ideas?

For a few weeks now if I come on YA on Edge and try to ask or answer a question I just get an 'Oops something went wrong!' message.

At first I thought I had been suspended but if I try with Google Chrome I have no problems.

I have asked Yahoo but they are yet to offer an answer. Does anyone know why Edge is causing a problem

  • Is Trump losing Support from the public?

In spite of America having the highest death toll in the world he wants to ease lockdown and is encouraging people to protest on the streets.

He advocated injecting disinfectant or somehow getting high intensity light inside your body as a cure. The Poison rate in USA has dramatically increased since those comments.

But surely this time he has gone too far in turning on one of his own.

George W Bush released a three minute video over the weekend as part of a 24 hour project "The Call to Unite". Bush never mentioned Trump but Trump has got annoyed enough to take what Bush said as a personal attack see https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/03/us/politics/geo...

Has Trump lost the public or are people still blindly following his every word as gospel?

  • Why have Trump supporters here started reporting questions that are anti Trump?

I asked a question earlier today about Trump and his suggestion that people should inject disinfectant to beat COVID 19.

Last time I looked at the replies there were 12 all in support of my question but now it has been removed.

It was not offensive or insulting just a question of fact including a link to the Washington Post that questioned Trumps suitability and sanity to be president.

So in order for it to be removed enough people must have reported it.

So to all Trump supporters, are you going to get everything you disagree with but are not capable of placing an intelligent coherent answer to removed?

  • USA has the most cases of Covid-19 in the world. Is this due to it's refusal to implement a universal healthcare system?

USA now has the highest number of people with covid-19 in the world and the third highest death rate.

How much of that is down to the lack of a universal healthcare system like most civilised countries where treatment is free at the point of contact available to all.

USA seems to have a system where if you can afford it OK but if you can't then go away find a dark corner and die.

I heard a US medic yesterday saying he expects 200,000 to die in USA because the most vulnerable people can't afford treatment or Medicare.

In UK most private hospitals have opened their doors and handed over their staff to the NHS to help out.

It would be interesting to see how many hospitals in USA are waving their fees and treating everyone.

  • Just heard Boris and we are on lockdown how will you cope?

The Prime Minister has just addressed the nation and from tomorrow:

All non essential shops will be closed.

Everyone must stay at home apart from essential shopping or medical appointments or to collect medication.

You are allowed to go out once a day for exercise such as a run or a walk but in groups of no more than two unless it is family members you live with.

You should only go to the supermarket when absolutely needed.

The Police have been given immediate powers to impose fines if they see a gathering of more than two people who turn out not to be living in the same household.

    Lockdown is here.

How you going to handle it?

  • So a second person has died in USA with Corona-virus and Trump thinks it is a hoax?

    Is this man for real?

We have a world health pandemic that has killed over three thousand people (ok only so far two in usa) But Trump has twice come out in the last two days to say it is a Democrat Hoax.

Is it really safe for the world to have the most powerful man in it in desperate need of hospitalised psychiatric care?

    12 AnswersCurrent Events1 year ago
  • Is Trump for real?

His latest rant is that Corona-virus is a Hoax despite it killing over 2,800 people. He adds if a virus has recently entered US it is because of Democrats immigration policies. Excuse me Mr President Corona-virus is a recent thing and you have been in charge for the last 4 years.

    Is he for real?

  • Can you answer a question me and my friend have argued over for years?

He says if you do something for the first time you can only call it the first time if there is a second time otherwise it is not the first time it is the only time.

I think you can do something for the first time but if you haven't yet done it again it is still your first time. Is it correct to describe it as the first time or the only time?
