  • What are some suggestions for teaching my 13 month old to be nice to his new baby brother?

My baby was born on Wednesday and we brought him home on Friday. Our older two boys ages 3 1/2 and 13 months stayed with their grandparents in a hotel until yesterday. Now they are home and really excited about their brother. However, they really aren't sure what to do with him. The oldest knows a little better and is a lot better with him but our little one is a little extra rough. I am working on showing him nice touches but I was wondering if anyone else had a good suggestion that worked with their older baby to ease the stress over it. Currently he tries to pat the baby everywhere, but because he's so big it comes out more of a hit than a pat. I put my hand on his and say gentle or soft and help him rub the baby instead of pat.

  • How long did you pass bloody show and feel tons of pressure before actually going into labor?

I am 39 weeks and like 2 days and at the doctor yesterday he said I was 2-3 cm dilated and 50% effaced. He did a little scraping around like when I had my second baby which put me into labor that night. However, I've been passing this since yesterday. The first part of it was bright red, which the doc warned me of. Now it's blood mixed with mucus or the bloody show they always talk about it. I've never had it that I can remember and this is my 3rd baby!

  • At what age did your child start playing in his or her room?

My son is 3 1/2 and I so badly want him to play in his room but he won't listen to me. He'll go in there and kick and scream or he'll go in there for a second and keep popping out to come bug me. It doesn't matter what I'm doing. He has tons of cool toys in his room but he doesn't care. He just wants to bug me I guess.

  • How do you know the difference between losing your mucous plug and your water trickling out?

Earlier today I started leaking some fluid. It's clear and had some white mucous in it. Made me feel wet down there. I can feel some come out every now and again, but it isn't like a huge gush like when I broke my water with my first. This is my third baby and my second broke when I was pushing so it was different experience than this.

  • Was it a contraction or what happened?

I'm 31 weeks 6 days and last night sex was rather painful. I finally got adjusted to where I wasn't hurting as much and enjoyed the end. But afterwards, there was a huge pain and my tummy and abdomen was all hard and tight. This lasted for about 10 minutes and then it went away and I got up and took a shower. Have you ever had something like this? Know what it is?

  • Isn't it normal for a woman's belly button to "pop out" while she is pregnant?

Every time I get pregnant, my belly botton pops out around the 7th month. I recently moved to a new state and had to get a new doctor. The first thing he said while examining my belly was, "I see you have a hernia here." I don't know why he would say that because I thought this was a normal occurence. What do you know?

  • My 11 month old is eating barely any solid foods lately. What are some reasons he would not want to eat?

He doesn't have a fever and doesn't seem to be in any pain or anything. He still drinks formula but he doesn't seem to be taking quite as much of that either. When we try to feed him he just pushes everything away. He eats maybe 2-3 bites the whole day. We offer food 3 times a day of course and some snacks but he just won't eat. He has always been a big eater.

  • Ways to help keep my son calm and to get him to listen to me and to his nana when she watches him? ?

My son is 3 1/2. He has signs of having ADHD: short attention span, wild mood swings, seems to need less sleep than other children, he is hyper and he doesn't seem to be able to pay attention even when it's just a short instruction from me. He is easily distracted and also is very impulsive. I have done a lot of reading about it and believe that it's ADHD. However, we don't have insurance at this time and I haven't been able to have him evaluated by a doctor for it yet. I'm trying to get him into a free counseling place but I work a lot and they have weird hours. If you are a parent of a child with ADHD what are some ways you have found to help the child listen better to yourself and other caregivers?

  • What would you do in this situation? Sorry it's lengthy?

I am 28 weeks pregnant and it's already getting harder and harder to walk. The doctor says it's "round ligament pain" and tells me to just take it easy and that I will be fine. Anyway the situation is that because we moved I started working about 7 weeks ago. I have worked at this job before. It's just a call center. However, we live 20 miles away from the town where my work is. My husband's work is in the opposite direction. We only have one car. So he takes me to work and drops me off then takes the kids to my mother's We pay her 100 dollars a week to watch the kids. Between the gas and the childcare we aren't really breaking even with me working.

I would be fine with quitting and I think we could afford things better. However, my husband is worried about what will happen when I'm at home with the kids all day. When I was staying home before I was in the throes of Postpartum Depression and I was crying, angry, and suicidal and ended up spending a night in the hospital because of it. That was last spring/summer, when our little one was first born. He is now 11 months old and my oldest is 3 years old, and like I said I'm 28 weeks. I have not had depression symptoms for awhile and I ran out of antidepressants when I was about 20 weeks and never refilled them.

So, what do you think. Any answers would be appreciated.

  • A weird question, but please answer if you can?

It seems like my past is coming back to haunt me. My son's father recently started working after 3 years of not working at all. (My son is 3). We had never received any child support and suddenly we received about 6 checks in a row. They were small but helpful. After those checks, it seemed to have stopped. So I just assumed that he'd quit working or something. Well, I have friends that still associate with him and they told me it wasn't true and that he was complaining about the amount of child support coming out of his check and how he was left with only a little bit to pay the bills. After I found this out yesterday, I had a dream last night that he was telling everyone but me that he wanted to see his son and trying to get them to tell me. (he's always been that way.) In the dream, I got tired of it and went to his house to clear everything up myself and find out if he truly wanted to see him. When I got there, the girl who had introduced us answered the door. She started to tell me that he wouldn't speak to me so I just pushed past her and went in. He was there, sitting in the living room chatting with a bunch of friends. I told him pointedly that he needed to tell me what was going on and if he truly wanted to see our son. He said yes he did but he wasn't sure what the future held for them.

I woke up this morning and I have a friend's request on my myspace from the girl who introduced us. Now I'm feeling a little creeped out like the past is totally coming back to haunt me. I know that the confrontation with my son's father was just a dream, but now I'm wondering what to make of all of this?

I asked this in the relationship category and everyone thought I wanted my ex back. I don't want any relationship with him other than if he wants to see his son I want to make sure my son isn't psychologically harmed by this because he's been taken care of by my husband who he believes is his daddy.

  • My baby is really fussy today and has been awake off and one since 4:45 am? ?

He is 10 months old and he is always a morning person. Normally by now he's off playing with his brother or playing peek a boo with mommy or daddy, but he isn't. All he's done is fuss, like he's hurting. He has been teething lately, but I don't think this is teething. He feels a little warm but not feverish. He does get a lot of ear infections, but he normally has a fever with them. Can he get an ear infection without a fever? We don't have medical insurance or I would've just taken him to an urgent care clinic or something.
