What's the big black building in Paris?
Was just looking at a panoramic site with a view of Paris, and there seems to be a single, really tall black building in amongst the rest. Does anybody know what this is?
2 AnswersParis1 decade agoFace/Off reference to Quantrex - anyone heard of it?
Was wondering if anyone knows of what Quantrex actually is, or if they just made it up for the movie? I have scoured the internet and can only find reference to an ultrasonic cleaner, but in the movie it's referred to as a "tab of Quantrex," like it's a drug.
1 AnswerMovies1 decade agoWhat does the French word "povybirat" mean?
I'm assuming it doesn't have an English equivalent word as the Google translator just brings it back as the same thing in English. Just wondering what the general meaning or gist of the word is.
2 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoHow would Detective Senior Constable be abbreviated?
Sergeant, for example, is abbreviated to Sgt, I was wondering if somebody knew how Detective Senior Constable might be done - obviously Senior would be Snr, but beyond that I'm stuck.
5 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoWashing Machine Size for Quilt Covers etc?
What's the smallest washing machine that will still allow something like a quilt cover to be washed in it, or a couple of sheets? I'm looking at a 5kg but worried it might be too small.
3 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoRhythm or Rhythmn with a silent N?
When I was in primary school I distinctly remember being taught that the word rhythm had a silent N on the end,and that it was, in fact, rhythmn.
I cannot find any history on this at all - was the N dropped? Was there never an N in the first place and my teacher was just wrong? Does anyone else remember spelling rhythm with a silent N?

3 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoWhat does the addition of kelp in sushi rice do?
I've been researching how to make sushi, and notice that a lot of recipes say to put a piece of kelp in the rice in the early stages of cooking it.
I was just wondering, what kind of flavour does kelp add to the rice - and is this a regular practice in restaurants?
4 AnswersEthnic Cuisine1 decade agoDon't you people know about GOOGLE?
I'm speaking to a small amount of you out there who appear to never be able to do a simple search on Google and get the answer yourself.
In fact, in a lot of cases, it would be QUICKER to go to http://www.google.com/ and type in your subject.
http://www.wikipedia.org/ is another example where the majority of info is derived from a lot of dedicated answerers on here.
Another would be initiative.
But my point - and my question is - why do you feel the need to hear this information from other people when you can easily find it yourself?

1 AnswerSouth Australia (Adelaide)1 decade agoDisturbing "fact" about honey - is it true?
I just read a completely random question about honey, and a "bee technologist" answered with:
"if the honey is squeezed then it contains dead larvae, bees etc"
That is as opposed to the extracted honey, which is natural.
I was just wondering - isn't the common honey found in supermarkets etc, squeezed honey? And does that mean it actually contains "dead larvae, bees etc"? :S
