What makes for a good built in dishwasher?
I'm looking at dishwashers online. I can't tell why some are way more expensive than others (even in the same brand at the same store for the same size ) based on the online descriptions. I'm looking for something without a lot of bells and whistles, but has some muscle to it. What are some key words and phrases I should be looking for? What are some key phrases that would tell me its going to be weak and flimsy? We are a family of six, that rarely if ever eats out. This dishwasher will see a lot of heavy use.
Other considerations- we have hard water and no water softener. Is there dishwashers that can take that into account? That would be a bell/whistle that interested me, but not a dealbreaker.
1 AnswerDecorating & Remodeling7 years agoCreative People- how can I make a pair of plain brown leather loafers more interesting?
I had a pair of walking shoes wear out on vacation. I replaced them in haste, with a nice comfortable good quality everyday brown leather loafer. But they are boooring. What have you tried successfully to jazz up a pair of shoes? Links to pictures or simple tutorials would be valuable, just to give me a better idea.
1 AnswerHobbies & Crafts7 years agoHow can I lose 5 pounds?
From june to September I lost 13 lbs to achieve my goal weight. I did this just with green smoothies for breakfast. In September I added a low carb, no processing or bad fat diet and exercise (20 min at home a day and classes once or twice a week. Both strength and cardio) and ended up gaining 5 lbs and a solid inch-inch and a half on my waist. Now, my arms are more toned and my butt is higher (which is great) but my scale and measurements both assure me I am not losing fat. What's the deal? Its been over three months, and I keep inching up.
Any idea where I'm going wrong? Maybe some tricks or supplements I could add?
1 AnswerDiet & Fitness7 years agoHow can I get my Great Pyrenese to stop biting strangers?
He is two years old, neutered, and we live on a farm, where his primary job is killing coyotes- which is very necessary. I don't think he had much human interaction as a puppy- he seemed timid of us when we first bought him, (while our other Pyr we have known since birth and is very sweet to everyone.)
He barks at a distance, seems to calm when they get closer, then nips them in the behind the moment their back is turned.
This only happens in his "territory" (and only to visitors- he has never shown the slightest aggression to the household). He is totally sweet and docile when I take him into town.
How do I get this to stop?
8 AnswersDogs8 years agoCan Milk Thistle make symptoms worse before better?
I started on Milk Thistle yesterday for my persistent sugar cravings, acne, and nasty pms. Today I have been craving (and indulging in) sugar and chocolate like crazy. And now I feel a low grade burn in my back, like my liver is a achy or indigestion etc. Is that normal for day 1? Does this mean its working? Or am I just achy because I had two large chocolate bars, a third a loaf of white bread and half a bag of cherry licorice? Oh, and some marshmallows. How long til the milk Thistle makes my sugar cravings go away?
6 AnswersAlternative Medicine8 years agoWhat am I doing wrong with my homemade mayonaisse?
My daughter needs to go soy free, so I'm trying to make homemade mayo with grapeseed or olive oil. I have been adding the oil very slowly (I poked a hole in the bottom of a yogurt container and let it drip into the blender a drop at a time). Twice now, after about a half a cup of oil, it goes from smooth and creamy to BAM! Liquid and separated. Is the blender getting too hot? Is the recipe wrong in calling for so much oil? Is the oil itself the problem? (because she can't have corn oil either, and I don't like the idea of canola). HELP!
7 AnswersCooking & Recipes8 years agoWhy does my paint project smell? And can I fix it?
I wanted to change my grey metal stools brown to match my kitchen. I used aerosol brown paint, that I bought new. I sprayed them outside, and brought them in when they were dry. Ever since, they have stunk up the place, with a smell oddly, most akin to B.O. I scrubbed them with soap, then bleach, then left them in the bright sun for over a week. Nothing I have tried will get rid of the smell. HELP!
1 AnswerDecorating & Remodeling9 years agoVery sudden burning smell in vents that aren't even on.?
An aroma like matches and...onions? is coming out of two of my vents, but not the rest. My furnace is off and has been off for over a month, and I have no a/c. The room the smell is coming from is nowhere near my furnace or hot water heater. We are in a one level home. I have investigated with my nose, and the smell is not coming from the furnace, the outside, or any major appliance. Nothing feels hot to the touch, and there is no visible smoke. What could be causing the burning smell?
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoVery sudden burning smell in vents that aren't even on.?
I recently woke to a skunk smell. But when I left my bedroom, I found the skunk smell was masking a burning smell. I have traced the burning smell to my living room duct. But my furnace hasn't been on in over a month and we don't own an a/c. There was no smoke smell a few hours ago, when I was watching t.v. And the living room is not particularly close to the furnace or water heater. It's very pungent, but that could be part skunk. I've ruled out the possibility that its coming from outside, and it is different than skunk. I don't feel any physical side effects from breathing it, and there is no smoke. What could this be?
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoCan you treat epilepsy with herbs and vitamins?
My daughter is 8 and having a recurrence of her infant epilepsy. It's clearly cyclical- she has clusters of seizures once a month and a host of adrenarche symptoms. So, definitely hormones. Her pediatrician says we ignore that and just give her powerful anticonvulsives. I think we stabilize the hormones with herbs, but I've never met anyone who has tried it
