  • Install multiple linux/windows from a flash drive?

I have Ubuntu 8.10 installer loaded onto a 4GB flash drive. I had to do this for an EEEPc I'm borrowing from a friend. It worked great. It was a lot faster than from a CD. I'm wondering if there is a way to load more than one installer, sort of like a dual boot scenario, but instead of booting to an installed OS, its an installer. Would there be away to to do this with XP as well? In example, Ubuntu 8.10, OpenSuse 11.1, and XP installers, with a Grub type loading screen that takes you to each of the installers. I'm not concerned about the amount of space this takes up, its huge flash drive, and if I get this to work, I'm considering buying a newer, faster one to do this better.

    Thank you.

  • D-link DGE-530T drivers on SLES not working?

I'm running SLES 10. The adapter works, because before i installed sles, i had xp running, and it worked. I've downloaded the sk98lin drivers from d-link and they dont work, nor do the ones that came with the NIC on the CD. If anyone knows how to fix this, i appreciate it

  • Good XP/Vista Optimizers?

I've been working on computers for a while now, just small stuff, anti virus, tweaks, general maintenance for friends and people i meet. Through this, i've started a small list of programs and reg tweaks i like, but i know there is a lot more. I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions to what they use or like. I put a quick list of things i use together, they include the following:

    AVG anti virus

    Spybot S&D

    Regscrub

    Defraggler

    Autostart

    TuneXP

    TweakUI

    Revo Uninstaller

    Sys Properties>Performance>Visual Effects

    Comodo Firewall

    HiJackThis free

The built in "disk clean" option under My Computer

Random Group of Registry tweaks I kinda put together

Any advice is appreciated. They can be programs or reg tweaks. I prefer freeware, but i am willing to pay if they are really good.

    Thanks

  • what is the best linux distro for an old laptop?

i have a compaq armada 1750. it is a Pentium 2, 192 meg ram, (upgraded to the max), 6 gig hard drive which im dual booting with windows 2000 (for wireless and whatnot), so that leaves about 3 gigs of room, which is plenty for any linux i know of. Im looking for usability, and as much power as i can get with it. the P2 doesnt give out too much power, so thats strained, i currently have Xubuntu, but im not a fan of the Fxce desktop, I'm going to try Puppy in a little, but if anyone has any other suggestions, please be my guest,

  • Sharing Files over a LAN with XP home and XP Pro?

i have a HP desktop with xp home on it, and a laptop with Pro. the laptop knows the other comp is out there, but says "access denied" or something like that. the home doesnt know the laptop is there, they are both on the same domain, but the other two computers on the LAN, the work comps, are on a whole different domain and are also Pro, but can access the laptop, and cannot find the home.

i know home and pro have some trouble sharing files and such, but is there a way around this?

if you need anymore information, IM me or leave something, i appreciate it

  • help choosing a college in Indiana?

I know i want to go to a college for a major in computers, but as far as what specific computer degree, im at a loss. i can do hardware, software (though rather not), networking, basically anything with computers. the problem is, i cant decide on what i want to do, i switch very often, last year i wanted to do web design, and software, and before that was hard ware, now its networking, i can do all of this stuff relatively easy, but i want to find something that combines all of this, more on the hardware/networking side though, anyone with college advice with this would be greatly appreciated, oh, this probably makes it hard, but it has to be within Indiana, and money doesn't have to be considered

  • Can some one help me with my sleeping problem?

im 17, and for the past few years i have a hard time sleeping, i go to bed at 10 pm. and get up for school at 6:30, the weekends are usually 11 pm. and 10 a.m. No matter what time i go to sleep during the week, i dont have energy for the rest of the day, which causes a lot of problems with work and school, obviously, ive tried some antidepresant (was supposed to calm my mind down before i go to bed) it worked but messed with my mind way too much, made me depressed, and even less energetic than not sleeping, if any one has any suggestions (besides going to bed earlier, it doesnt work) please help, this has gone on too long

  • water backing up?

we have the laundry room right next to the lower level bathroom, no matter what water (except the washer) we run, it backs up into the shower through the drain, bring with it some nasty tagalongs and a very unpleasant smell. no matter where the water comes from, it just kicks back up into the tub, once more, except the washer, we've snaked the main pipe going out to the septic tank, and poured every chemical you can think of to unblock it, the more we use, the more it seems that it isnt a block. about a year ago, we had to get a new septic tank, the old one was over 30 years old and fell apart, and thats about when this started acting up, were looking for as many answers that doesn't mean tearing up our lawn more than it has already been, the grass has just grown back. so please, if you have any suggestions, id appreciate them, thank you.
