We got our first storm of the season and I noticed today that the roof drain is slow draining/clogged. It's a flat roof that slopes into a 3" cast iron drain pipe. I put a snake down and it stops about 6 feet down where the pipe has a slight bend (maybe 60 degrees).

The pipe has a cleanout further down in the garage but these pipes are probably as old as the house (1926)and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to get them off without hurting myself in the process.

So my question is - would it be wrong to try blasting water from my 1500psi power washer down the drain to see if I could clear the blockage? Any other ideas?

I'm moving into a new home in two weeks and will be purchasing new appliances including a new gas range and clothes drier. They deliver for free but want to charge an extra $300 to hook them up to the gas line. Is this something I can do myself?

I'll need to install a gas shut off valve in the kitchen (there is already one where the drier will go)

Is there anything I'll need to do besides turning off the gas line to the house, and screwing on and sealing the fittings?

A neighbor gave me about 5 pounds of beef round tip steaks. They are about 1/2" thick. I froze some but want to cook one tonight but I (obviously) don't know much about cooking a steak. Would it be better to pan fry or cook in the broiler? Should I put anything on it when cooking?

I've got a few white t-shirts with some year old sweat stains. I tried soaking them in vinegar before washing with bleach but it didn't help.

Any other suggestions?

I'm a full time hourly paid employee in California. 2-3 times a month I'm required to come in on a Sunday (the business is closed) to take care of some things that only take between 15 and 45 minutes to complete. I'm only paid for the time I'm there and it's a bummer since I work 23 miles from my home.

I know there is such a think as "reporting time pay" that guarantees being paid for 2-4 hours if you show up expecting to be scheduled for a full day but are send home due to a lack of work. Would this apply to my situation even though I'm not scheduled to work a full day?

I've always thought that most cars should have the oil changed after the car is broken in at 1000 miles. The owners manual for my new Subaru recommends a first oil change at 3000 miles. Any ideas or input on this?

Any thoughtson using a synthetic over conventional oil when i do have the oil changed?
