  • Iron content of Potassium ferricyanide chemistry experimental study?

    Hi,

I am in the final year of pre-university school in my country.

As a chemistry experimental test, I got the task of determining the iron %content in Potassium ferricyanide.

It is a independent experiment (I have to do it without any help or guidance from the teacher whatsoever)

I have no idea what to do.

I am assuming that I will have to dissolve the Potassium ferricyanide in pure H2O, which will give me Fe(CN)6 {3+} ions ( a complex ion).

Next I assume I will have to titrate something from a buret, which will cause a Redox reaction and will probably change the color of my solution when im fininshed. I have however no idea what to put in the buret and what to expect. I cant find anything helpful on the internet either. Can you please help me?

    thanks a lot

  • App for plotting a function with unknown constants?

    Hi

For Physics, I had to differentiate a function and equal it to zero to find extreme cases.

    I was supposed to find 2 answers a minimum...x=0 and a maximum... x=d/(2^0.5)

After solving the equation...I only found the max.

I know x=0 has to be a solution as well, because that solution is quite logical in this scenario..I was calculating magnitude of Electric Field Strength as a function of x..and at x=0..E has to be 0 in this case.

    So finally my question:

I want to plot the function I found, but I dont know a website or app that can let me do that.

So I can see only the shape of the function.

    For example...see a parabola when I put in ax2 +bx+c

Is there an app for that

    Thanks

PS Sorry if I wrote bad English...is not my main language.

  • What is color of flame inside diesel engine?

    Hi...

Me and my friends were having a discussion recently abou the color of the flame inside the cylinder of a diesel combustion engine(engine of a diesel car)

    Is it blue or yellow?

I say blue because there is an excessive amount of oxygen in tge cylinder during compression.

Also...you rarely find a layer of solid carbon on the walls of the cylinder.

So I say you have perfect burning of the fuel.

Some of my friends disagree and say the color is yellow.

    Which is it.

    Thank you

  • how to create a vacuum?

    Hi.

For a physics project, i would like to determine the correlation between the boiling point of water and the air pressure.

As a demonstration, i was thinking about making a glass of water boil at room temperature.

I live in the tropics...so that will be around 30 degrees centigrade.

For that I will need to create a vacuum. and have my glass of water inside that vacuum.

Is there a way that can be done..with a vacuum pump for example.. but nothing too expensive...

How low would the pressure have to be...would it be possible??

If not...do you have alternate solutions??

    Thank You

  • Need help. physics research project?

    Hi.

I am sorry if my english is not perfect...it is not my 1st language

I am a high school student

For physics we need to do a research on any subject we would like.

I love physics very much and that is why I want a very interesting project. We also have an expo. We will promote our project to a lot of people.

But my final grade is for something I have to research. I will also need to do a practical reasearch on my project and decide the correlation between things... for example efficieny of an engine or number of nodes in a standing wave as a function of the tension in the string.

So can you please help me find a subject. I would love a challenge... but nothing impossible to build. Thanks a lot!!

I currently have the power and efficiency of a steam engine as my subject, but i am hesitant..thinking maybe i should change it.

I have no idea how to build one. So could you either give me tips and info about a steam engine or recommend a more intersting subject

  • Need Help deciding what to study?

    Hi.

I am 17 years old and in a little more than 1year, I will go to a university. But I do not yet know what I should study. I am deciding between Applied Physics and Mechanical Engineering. Physics is currently my favorite subject in school, and I am very good at it. I would like to study Applied Physics because I love Physics and I would love to develop new technology. Correct me if Im wrong...but Im under the assumption that Applied Physics is all about developing new technology while Mech Eng. is about understanding current technology and machines. I am hesitant to study Applied Ph. Because I live in a 3rd world country and my father has warned me that I wont find work with that Diploma. I am planning on studying at TU Delft So that is why he and lots of people suggest mech eng. What do you think...what should I do. Note that I like them both. I think i like Applied Ph. A little better but Im afraid to study that.

    Thank you

  • Please Help! Physics problem?

Imagine a parallel universe in which the electric force has the same properties as in our universe but there is no gravity. In this parallel universe, the sun carries charge Q, the earth carries charge -Q, and the electric attraction between them keeps the earth in orbit. The earth in the parallel universe has the same mass, the same orbital radius, and the same orbital period as in our universe.

    Calculate the value of Q.

  • How to solve (x+y)^1/2 - x^1/2?

    Hi...

    I need help...

    How can you solve (x+y)^1/2 - x^1/2

I need it for a physics problem...

    The problem is actually:

    Delta v = ((ku^2/m)+2gh)^1/2 - (ku^2/m)^1/2

    Can you help me please

I need to substitute delta V in an equation..

    The equation currently is:

    X=Delta v.(u/g).cos alpha.(k/m)^1/2

Please help me solve this Physical Pendulum problem?

Problem 49. It is a question in Fundamentals of Physics Extended version 8th edition

I would be able to solve it if the pivot point was at the end of the stick. But I can't, because there is a part of the stick on both sides of the pivot point.

Please show me how you derived the answer

  • Integration cos pi fuction help (deg or rad)?

    Hi,

    can you please help me?

As a HW assignment we needed to integrate:

    cos(3x + 4) dx.....with borders from 0 to pi.(3,14)

    1st step: substitute 3x+4 with u.

    u=3x+4

    du/dx= 3

    dx= 1/3du

    And change borders: u(0)= 3.0 +4= 4

    u(pi)= 3.pi+4

So now our function to integrate is:

    cos u 1/3du.....with borders from 4 to 3pi+4

    =

    1/3[sin u]...borders from 4 to 3pi+4

So now comes my problem and question:

I had my calculator on degrees and got: 1/3(0,232-0,07)= 0,05 as answer

    However the answer should be:

    1/3(0,757--0,757)= 1/3(1,514)=0.504

Which is what you get when putting the calculator on radians

    So My question(Finally)

How should you know whether the calculator should be set to radians or degrees

  • Please help! Physics problem.?

    Hi,

Can you please help me with this rather difficult physics problem.

PS English is not my 1st language, so sorry if I make mistakes.

An object is launched horizontally from the stairs.

    The Vo,x is 1,5m.s^-2

Every step is 10cm high and 10cm wide.

The steps are numbered from top to bottom.

So the top of the stairs is step 0(This is where the object is launched from)

    1st step is step 1

2nd step is step 2, etc

    Q. What step will the object land on?

    A. 3

    B. 4

    C. 5

    D. 6

Can you please put the entire equation, how you solved the problem.

    And not just A B C or D.

    Thanks for your help

  • Post defense for short player?

    Hi,

    I'm a point guard and about 5'8 tall.I'm 18 years old.

In the games, I guard full grown men.

The other teams point guards are about 6'2 or so.

Since I'm too short, they all post me up.

I am fairly strong, but since I'm too short, I can't stop them.

This is also the only way I can get scored on, because I am quick and strong(they cant dribble past me)

But they do this all game, which leads to me getting subbed, because I can't stop my man.

So what should I do to stop it?
