Deciding between occupational therapy and teaching.?
I’m a freshman in college and am still undecided. I know I want to work with children but am still teetering between OT and teaching (special ed or early childhood). There are several issues in both professions that I have been struggling with. One that is the most prevalent is age group, with teaching I would be guaranteed to work with kids but I know that there is a growing need for OTs to work with adult and geriatric patients. Probably one of the most difficult aspect of deciding for me is the coursework. Becoming an OT and a teacher means having very different classes. At first I was determined to become an OT. I have shadowed and volunteered in a variety of facilities with OTs, teachers and speech therapists. I liked the idea of being an OT because I am a creative individual and like the idea of forming unique plans and setting goals to help patients. Looking into the coursework for OT and possible majors at my university has made me wary. The requirements are growing and becoming more math and science-related. This is a problem for me as math/science is not my strong suite. I would like to have my dream career but also hopefully have a little less stress in college, taking classes that I can excel in. One other issue is the number of people working with, I think I would do best working one on one with the kids. OTs typically work with one patient at a time. Something that I think teaching offers more of is playfulness. Early childhood and special ed teachers have goals but seem to be able to goof of more and be more silly. I am a kid at heart and can appreciate fingerpaints , story books and all things in the classroom. The final issue is job availability and salary. OTs have a significantly higher salary and chance of getting a job. I would like to be able to decide soon to declare a major. All advice and experience is greatly appreciated!
2 AnswersTeaching1 decade agoWhat age is too old for me to date?
I am eighteen, it seems like I am always attracted to guys 2-6 years older than me. I am pretty mature for my age. I know that people of different ages sometimes have different priorities in life, and that sometimes big age gaps don't work.. What age do you think is the oldest I should date?
9 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoI'm having lack of boyfriend blues ?
I've been told that I'm attractive and fun, but I have never had a boyfriend. I'm still in school and lately I have become very tired of it, and wish I had someone that understood me better. I feel really pathetic for posting this, but I just feel so lonely. I'm older than most of the people at my school, the guys are all immature or not right for me. What should I do and were could I go to find someone?

So, I've never had a boyfriend. Lately I've been thinking about having one a lot, but there aren't a lot of good guys at my school, at least not many that are like me. Sometimes it feels like I will always be single, and I feel like there's a piece of myself that is missing. I have two more years until I graduate. What to you do to make yourself feel better and to fill that empty space??
3 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoConnections with names and personalities ?
There is a certain name that everyone I meet with that name has the same friendly personality. Sometimes I wonder if there is sometimes a connection between the person and their name. I have heard that women are attracted to men that remind them of their fathers and the same for men and their mothers. I was shocked when I liked this guy and later found out he has the same name as my dad, which is not all that common. The same exact thing happened to my friend. And the other day my cousin said her friend was about to get married to a man with the same name as her father. Sometimes I wonder if parents with the same personalities or ways of thinking choose same names and that is why some people with the same names are similar. What do you think ?
1 AnswerPsychology1 decade agoHow to wear suspenders?
So I know I'm weird... I really like the suspender look and want to try it myself. I'm medium height and slender and don't have big boobs. What should I wear them with, shorts, pants, plain T's concert T's what kind of shoes... Be descriptive !
3 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoSuspenders are sexy ??
So all my friends tell me I have a weird taste in guys. I tend to go for guys that have something a little bit quirky or comical about them. There's this one celebrity I like that sometimes wears suspenders and for what ever reason I find it attractive. Does anybody else have strange things that they find attractive?
2 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoWhat should I do ?
A guy at my school recently told my friend that he thought I was nice and attractive. He also told her not to tell me. But of course she couldn't help but tell me. A few days after she told me this he asked my friend if i knew what he told her. Sometimes I make things really obvious, unfortunately... My friend said that she had not told me. He's pretty cute and seems very nice, in some ways i'm not sure if he's my type, but i really haven't talked to him enough to know. I'm afraid tto talk to him b/c he thinks I know about what he said and i'm worried that if i talk to him now it could be awkward... I think i'll just take it as it comes...... any additional thoughts????
