How much does the average 7 week baby eat?
Just trying to compare how much my guys eat compared to other babies.
4 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoHow to keep someone entertained when they visit you?
A little back-story here. I found my siblings from my biological father about a year ago via facebook and we met for the first time at my wedding in Las Vegas last September. They live in Colorado and I am from Boston. My 20 year old sister wanted to come and visit for a week on her way to Europe, which at the time we planned it wasn't a problem. Skip forward a few months, I get pregnant with twins. At this point I am just about 5 1/2 months during a heat wave. I can't really walk for long periods of time as I get very tired and dehydrated. I am also not able to take time off of work as I need to use my time for constant Dr.'s appointments and ultrasounds and realistically can't go unpaid as we need every dollar me and my husband make. I explained this to her before she came and she seemed ok with it. But she has been here since last Wednesday and makes me feel like I have to keep her entertained all the time. I did take time off of work last Thursday and we obviously hung out over the weekend. When I ask her what she wants to do I get "whatever you want" but then she acts bored and cranky? I had her come to work with me today so she could see some of the sights of Boston while I am at work (I work in Faneuil Hall which is a tourist heaven) but again she seems bored and is constantly asking "what are we going to do later, tonight, after this"???
My question is more for future reference, how do you keep someone entertained 24/7 when they come to visit you? I try to be a good hostess but I feel like I am coming up short?
Sorry for the rant but this is really bothering me, so any neutral advice would be greatly appreciated.
1 AnswerFamily1 decade agoHow much would you spend on the shower if you couldn't go to the wedding?
As evident from my name I am currently expecting twins and am due in November but because it is twins I will probably not make it past mid-october. A very dear friend is getting married on October 8th and I doubt I will be able to attend. Because of this I want to get her a really good shower gift. Usually I will spend around $75-$100 for the shower gift and another $100 for the wedding present but I don't think that is nearly enough in this situation (she came to my destination wedding and is someone you can really count on to help in any situation). I am on a bit of a budget as we are trying to save as much money as possible for when I go out on maternity leave but I still want to get her something really nice. Unfortunately her registry doesn't have much over $150 and I don't want to get her 500 little things. Any suggestions, maybe a nice Lenox vase or Tiffany crystal bowl?
3 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoAny moms of twins who can help me with a stroller search?
Or even a mom of 2 little ones closer in age. I am doing the painstaking researching on finding a stroller for my coming twins and I have to admit I am in love with a certain one but the price tag is giving me a little sticker shock. Most of my friends who are moms are telling me they have gone through 3 strollers because they didn't like it, or it was poorly constructed, kid hated it, etc, and I am trying to avoid that struggle and waste of money.
Anyone have a double they are in love with?
this is my dream and maybe if I sell a twin I can afford it lol (clearly kidding for those without a sense of humor!) http://www.bumbleride.com/collection2010/indie-twi...
4 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoSharp pain when I cough or sneeze?
I am 9 1/2 weeks with twins and yesterday when I sneezed I got a huge pain all the way across my abdomen, near my uterus. It really took be back and took a few minutes to subside. I was good for the rest of the day with no issues or cramping. Today when I coughed hard after water went down the wrong way it happened again? I am just wondering if anyone can relate? I am pretty sure it is my ligaments stretching to fast but I am such a worry wart! Also did anyone else's nausea just go away one day? I was so sick the last few weeks I couldn't think of looking at food, but I woke up on Saturday and I felt so much better, is it to good to be true?
5 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoMiddle names for a girl?
Hello all! So I had both gender names all set to go and was thrilled we decided so fast and actually agreed on them.... Of course now we are having twins so I need to think of more lol. We have decided on boys names but I am struggling for a middle name for the second girl. Below are the names we have picked out, tell me what you think. I am not one of those people that wants their names to rhyme or sound alike. I want them to have their own identity. I am sold on Ryan (and I understand it is normally a boys name but it is a common Irish girl's name), and I do not like Rhianna, Ryann, Raina or any of that.
Boys:
Collin James
Logan Thomas
Girls:
Ryan Patricia (Ry for a nickname)
Lucy ?????? (Lulu for a nickname)
11 AnswersBaby Names1 decade agoBloating after eating anything?
I am just about 7 weeks and I have been having some stomach issues for the last week in particular. Whenever I eat anything, from a bagel to a piece of fruit I immediately get very bloated and gassy feeling. I have tried every food out there honestly and I feel like I am a blimp most days. Any suggestions or experiences in this area?
6 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoCramping during the first trimester, etc...?
First timer here with a weird question. Is it ok to have mild cramps during your first trimester. Not even like cramps, just little nudges, kind of like when you have gas. Also, is it normal to feel like you have to use the bathroom alot (not urinate if ya know what I mean). I am usually very regular but the last few days I feel like I have to go all the time! I am a big worrier so before I inundate my dr. with tons of stupid questions I figured I'd ask others :)
6 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoHow do you not tell everyione walking by that you are pregnant?
So me and my husband had been trying for about 4-5months and I was honestly only taking the test this morning so I could bring the negative test to my Doc so he could run the ink/x-ray test (I really don't know what it is called lol) which he couldn't do until I got my period (for obvious reasons). Imagine my excitement when I got the "Pregnant" across the screen. I actually took 2 more after wards to make sure it wasn't a false positive lol, it seems to good to be true. I spoke with my Dr. who has me coming in next Monday but also confirmed the chance of me having 3 false positives was like 1 in a bajillion so I can be pretty sure I am in fact pregnant.
So I am obviously very excited but I heard you are not supposed to share with anyone for a few months? I will be honest I can't do it! I want to tell every person walking by because I am so excited. Any tips for not telling everyone you know? My BFF just had her baby last week and she told people right off the bat but someone said it is bad luck? I have never had any issues and have had every test under the sun recently and my Dr. actually said I was a great candidate for having kids as I am a taller, bigger build with no health issues.
We already told our parents and our best friends but I can' seem to hold this secret in anymore!! I want to tell my co-workers etc! Anyone jump the gun and tell people??
So my question is, I know you aren't supposed to tell everyone for a few months but how did you keep it yourself? I am so excited I want to tell everyone I see?? Is it ok to share with friends and family.
6 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoBaby Shower Decorations Ideas?
I am trying to think of more ideas for my BFF's baby shower on Saturday. It is my godson so I am going a little over the top. So far I have planned:
alternating blue and white table covers with baby bottles filled with blue and white candies that hold balloons with these little rattles I got propped against it (babies that are about 3 inches tall) and table confetti that says it's a boy.
I also got a banner that says Jenn & Glenn are Having a Boy, Congratulations on you Bundle of Joy. For their table I got a larger rattle (same concept) as well as a baby balloon (to add in with the other balloons) and diaper cake. Above the chairs they will sit while opening gifts I have an umbrella I use cotton balls on the inside to make it look like clouds hanging down over her head?
I am also planning on putting a clothes line across a whole wall to add clothes to when she is opening gifts, that way people can see them clearly.
Anybody got anymore cute, cheaper ideas? Do you think this is enough. I will have spent on decor, invites, and gifts about $400, is that enough for your god baby? I know I will spoil him rotten once he is actually here but I want her to have a really special day. No games though please, we are not game at the shower people. Below is stuff I already have, thank you all so much!!

3 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agohow to stay focused and rational when you are so sad?
So me and my hubs have just started TTC 2 months ago. The first month was sort of a fluke as we had just decided "to pull the goalie" but we actively tried last month. I know I am a rational person and didn't think it would actually take in the first month but I am really upset that I got my period yesterday. I don't know if it is because it was 8 days late so I got a little excited but I can't imagine month after month of this feeling. I am trying to be rational and calm about the whole thing but I feel like a failure. How do you stay focused and motivated after a BFN?
3 AnswersTrying to Conceive1 decade agoBaby boy shower ideas..?
So my best friend is having a baby boy in early March so we have booked her party for January 20th. I need hlp thinking of good decor themes. I don't want it to be "it's a boy" cause everyone knows already and I want to make it little more personal and original. Anything out of the norm would be appreciated as this is our first baby in our circle so I am a bit of a newbie :)
4 AnswersOther - Pregnancy & Parenting1 decade agowhat is the deal with promise rings?
Really what are you promising? I am honestly curious because I am clearly a generation ahead of this trend. I notice alot of young people wear them but don't abstain from sex which is what I assumed they were originally a symbol of? If this the new "pin" that guys give girls?
6 AnswersWeddings1 decade agohow long after your wedding do you have?
to send out thank you cards? I feel like a major slacker because we moved and then I got a promotion so my personal time is down to practically nothing and I haven't had a chance to send out our thank yous. We got married 9/24 but our reception at home was 10/10?
Am I majorly sucking at life?
16 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoKegs at a wedding, cost thing or preference?
I am not asking this to be snarky, I am genuinely curious. I notice alot of mentioning of kegs at wedding and I am wondering how does that work? Do you have guests help themselves and pump the keg? Or do you have a bartender dole them out? It seems like a lot of work to put a bartender through, I mean draft beer is not nearly as fast as bottled. Is it a cost thing or do you prefer draft beer?
3 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoWhat do you think is the best gradual tanner?
So I am getting married and I am casper white. I am going for an airbrush tan on Saturday but I was planning on using a gradual tanner after the fact as my moisturizer (5 days between tan and weeding, but I am going away so I can't do it closer to the wedding). Anyone got any faves? Something not stinky though!
BTW, I am an old hag at regular self tanners but they all stink and I want something that doesn't make me smell for the rest of the day.
6 AnswersOther - Skin & Body1 decade agoFavor placement question?
So instead of the normal favors we are donating money to Children's Hospital Boston in the name of our guests. My question is do I make up little cards to go at each place setting or should I do a large framed letter to my guests to be put on the guest book/card table? I want to make sure everyone sees it so they don't think I was just being a cheapo and didn't want to do favors (ot about the money honestly, I just wanted to give to a charity that is close to our heart). I notice alot of time people don't notice the little cards on the tables when there is a centerpiece and the plates, etc.
Thoughts?
10 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoWhat font to use for my next tat?
For my next tat I am planning on getting "only god can judge me" in german sideways from my ribs to my hip. I am trying to figure out what style font to use. I am think a fancy script because that is what I have for my wrist tattoo, but I wanted something a little more unique. Any suggestions?
2 AnswersTattoos1 decade agoDoes this sound better?
So I asked this question last week and got my @ss handed to me because I didn't have nearly enough food (so they said, my caterer said I would be fine). I reworked the menu and wondered if this sounds like enough of a variety and enough food (i tired to go with heavier items, so they would be filling). There will be 175ish people, but we are paying per person not per piece, so they will have the right amount. Also the reception begins at 7:30pm (stated apps/cocktails on the invite) with open bar from 7:30-9:00. We are having cupcakes and assorted mini desserts as well. And are flirting with the idea of bringing in a ton of pizzas around 10:30ish, when everyone has been dancing and drinking for awhile. Something easy and quick so people can grab a slice and keep on dancing the night away. Thoughts? And if it isn't enough, what else would you add?
Tables:
Cheese and cracker/ fruit display
crudite platters with bleu cheese dips
Passed by waiters:
chicken fingers
steak terayki
scallops wrapped in bacon
stuffed mushrooms
shrimp cocktail
8 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoGuys only - Kate Hudson?
Random question for the guys. Do you think kate Hudson is pretty and if so why?
I just saw a pic of her and she is not good looking at all (at least to me) so I wondered what her appeal is?
