Does this sound better?

So I asked this question last week and got my @ss handed to me because I didn't have nearly enough food (so they said, my caterer said I would be fine). I reworked the menu and wondered if this sounds like enough of a variety and enough food (i tired to go with heavier items, so they would be filling). There will be 175ish people, but we are paying per person not per piece, so they will have the right amount. Also the reception begins at 7:30pm (stated apps/cocktails on the invite) with open bar from 7:30-9:00. We are having cupcakes and assorted mini desserts as well. And are flirting with the idea of bringing in a ton of pizzas around 10:30ish, when everyone has been dancing and drinking for awhile. Something easy and quick so people can grab a slice and keep on dancing the night away. Thoughts? And if it isn't enough, what else would you add?

Tables:

Cheese and cracker/ fruit display

crudite platters with bleu cheese dips

Passed by waiters:

chicken fingers

steak terayki

scallops wrapped in bacon

stuffed mushrooms

shrimp cocktail

Update:

I was thinking sandwiches and a few types of salad for later in the vening but I wanted it to be an easy grab. and something that will have a little shelf life, I don't want anyone to eat a bad tuna sandwich, I will check with my location though to see if they can assist with keeping stuff cold.

most people would expect dinner, but if they read the invite they wouldn't, whereas it says it on there that is a cocktail/hors devours reception.

P.S. this is not right after our wedding ceremony. We are getting married in Vegas and then having this reception 2 weeks after we get back. So they won;t be going from one place to the other with no time for a full dinner.

Update 2:

this question is very funny to me but yes we are having tables and chairs for people to sit down.

So when you go to a wedding you leave after the food is gone? We are having dancing (cause we are a dancing and partying sort of crowd), but also cake cutting and a bridal throw, so it is the same as most receptions. Just minus the ceremony (which will be played on an LCD on the wall behind the bar so everyone can watch).

    I think it sounds GREAT!

Definitely go with the pizzas around 10:30. This is a HUGE HIT where I live. We did the same thing at my son's wedding (meat/cheese/rolls) and they all went!

    Sounds delicious.

7:30 is a fine time to serve just appetizers. I definitely wouldn't expect dinner that late especially not if you said apps on the invites. You should be fine. If you are going to do anything later maybe have like finger sandwiches or something like that I think Pizza might be a bit messy, but that's just my opinion.

I think that people can feed themselves but that is just me! Appetizers are good for reception. Most people do not expect to have a 7 course meal at a wedding anyway and if they do then they need to go to bobby vans before the wedding! this is YOUR wedding do what you can afford and how you want it

at 7:30 pm most people are going to expect dinner not app's

Pizza at 10:30 is all well and good but that's a bit late..

    Just my thoughts

Edit: Now that you've added additional details - App's would fine! They can eat before hand if need be!

sounds good to me! along with the desserts this should easily be enough!

as for the pizzas though i thin krather than them you should arrange with the caterer to have platters for later in evening, this is what we are doing, with sandwiches and finger food on etc, this way it still keeps in conext of the civilised wedding and everyone can still enjoy themselves. these are usuall purchased per platter, so you could keep cost down by budgeting one per table.

if your friends are anything like mine, as soon as the bar is open, the food is no longer wanted, alcohol replaces everything haha! but we thought it best to have platters as we serve buffet at 6./30pm approx, by 10pm il certainly want to nibble!

    good luck

IDK -sounds good to me, starting at 7:30 w/appetizers - If I ate a full meal knowing that in advance I'd probably eat early so I'd have "room" for snacks, so pizza or sandwiches later may be good just to keep something in people's stomachs.

    this sounds great!!

you shouldn't have to feed your guests so much that they leave full..

this is your wedding celebration not some buffet..

what you have is more than enough and sounds delicious!
