  • do I really have to have more calories?

I am in training to pass a PT course exam for a law enforcement position. I am tracking my food on LiveStrong's website which I have done off and on for years. It is a fantastic resource not just for losing or gaining weight, but also for tracking to ensure what your eating is good. I was very sick for a long time and did not consume more than 300 calories a day for nearly a year. I got very ill because when this started I was a serious athlete. Now, I am better mentally and physically but I still need to understand why I can never get the minimum calories to maintain weight, but still reach and exceed fiber and protein Every single day. My sugars are low on it which I love, and my sodium is lower than minimum, so is cholesterol. I just need to know what to do to meet my minimum calorie goal and make the minimum on all the rest and not overdo everything so much?

BTW- I eat only vegetable, legumes, lentils and white meats, fruits and lots and lots of water.

Thank you so much in advance for REAL replies.

  • vegetarian muscle building?

I started being mainly vegetarian about two yrs ago. I still love protein, dont get me wrong. I started just getting to a point where nothing sounds good anymore at all however. At all. Before the vegetarian stage, I was on an extremely limited carb diet for muscle building/toning. That worked fantastically with great energy as a result. Now though, after going through this change from a ton of protein every single day to just fowl and fish protein, but very limited amounts and some days only relying on protein bars, I have no energy. I bike to work every day which round trip is 8 miles and recovery is virtually impossible, I know I have to fix this problem, but I have to feel better to even get started. Hoe do I do this? Please no rude answers and no solicitation. I will junk your link if you try and sell me any product. That being said I am open to suggestions. Thank you in advance.

  • Biggest threat to American Security?

I am polling to see what military, or like-minded people believe is the most threatening to American security? Either Homeland or National. I am a Homeland Security graduate student at American Military University and am not surrounded by like-minded people at home, so I am putting this question out to the world at large. Thank you so much for your time!

  • I am stuck in a rut, can you help?

I was on steroids for a brain injury from 2001-2002, and placed on many meds after until 2006. I have been dieting and working out since 2008. I lost a ton of weight and gained a lot of muscle, for about a year and a half.

Its not that I am weak now, havent stopped going to the gym either, and I havent changed good food habits lately that much either. I started grad school in November, and I feel like I am sitting too much even though it isnt for very long ever at any one time. I feel swollen and bloated although all of my clothes fit better and I dont look fat, I just feel morose.

Is there a reason for this? Is it just because I feel cooped up? I am still new to the whole healthy lifestyle, so please let me know if this is just a mental feeling or if I probably am retaining water after New Years/ Christmas/ Birthdays?

Please dont sell me on any pills either. Thank you

  • I understand this is really going to only be opinion...?

So lets keep it civilized please

At church, I attend a southern baptist church because I grew up there and i am a Christian just not strictly baptist, we were talking about the "what if's". What will happen to those who dont know Jesus as their savior? The Bible says that the ones who have never had an opportunity to learn will not be punished so will even the older adults, not just innocent children, be able to enjoy the afterlife as we hope to? I have always been the more moderate liberal in politics and lets face it- the two do blend now. So, if I do get to enjoy heaven as I am told and believe, will Muslims go there too because some of them Never heard about Christianity? I just cannot believe that a Baptist will be the only type of person you will see there. I will not get into what I believe totally, but I really dont think I can say Any one of us is wrong. We simply have no real way of knowing, we can only hold what we believe as truth in our hearts. I just want to hear other opinions besides the ones that were presented around our "round table" at church. Thank you so much!

  • Depth perception? It is poor?

In MEPS, I failed the depth perception as did a lot of other people surprisingly. My vision uncorrected was 20/200 which means that I missed all of the depth perception except one, apparently.

I looked up if depth perception could be corrected and really only found where other people inquired about it also on the internet and none of the answers were the same. So, if anyone out there knows if depth perception can be at least somewhat corrected, would you please let me know?

By the way, I am not going into the military anymore, and the depth perception is not why. But, God bless America!

    Thank you in advance

  • Found Crazy ant in yard?

Night before last, around dusk I suppose, I walked out in my yard and found a very large bright red, skittle colored, red with specks of black (could have been a very dark brown) on his body. He was in three parts so I am pretty certain he was not a beetle, but I flipped him out of the gate very quickly and did not go anywhere near him after that. He moved so quickly I couldnt get a good look before i tried to smash him, and since i could not kill him I got him on the end of a shovel and threw him. I had/have no idea what this thing was. Background- I have a vegetable garden and flowers, for the first time so I have seen some pretty interesting bugs that I never did before. I looked for a picture of him, and could not find one. If anyone knows what this thing was, could you please share the insight? Thank you so much!

  • Are all recruiters like this or is mine moody?

I have a Navy recruiter who is extremely harsh with me. When I update him every once in a while on the status of what I am doing with the required doctors appointments and the social security stuff, he replies back with that I am annoying him to death and one more comment and I can kiss the Navy goodbye and stuff like that. I seriously have not contacted him that often and only about the requirements. My first recruiter was actually really nice to me until I found out he wasnt really doing his job. Was the first recruiter just lazy and wanted to be a friend maybe? And, could the new recruiter be acting like this because he is serious? It hurts me every time he has responded at all to anything I have sent. Please do not be rude in responding to this. It just isnt neccesary. And, believe me I am ok with the screaming and yelling and I am ready to face it, but I am just wondering since I am not even IN yet, if this is how recruiters are all supposed to be?

I have much of the 2010 Naval Chain of Command in order and who holds the offices:

    President- Obama

    Secretary of Defense- Robert Gates

Secretary of the Navy- Raymond Maybus

Chief of Naval Operations- Admiral Gary Roughead

Chief of Naval Training and Education- Vice Admiral Alfred G. Harms Jr.

NTC- Rear Admiral Ann E. Rondeau

CO, RTC- Rear Admiral Craig S. Faller

XO, RTC- Captain Harry J. Hinden

    Director of Training- ????

All the rest I am assuming I will find out in Bootcamp...

Does anyone know the Director of Training? I have looked and looked and either get different results, or no results at all. I know I am not researching this incorrectly, but apparently I am not doing it sufficiently. Any help will do. Thank you!

  • Is there an ALL natural, home remedy?

Does anyone know an Effective and non-gimicky solution to fleas both/either on the animal and outside in the yard? I have a dog with eczema and 4 others without. I have two out of 5 of them who are terribly allergic to Frontline, which isnt effective with my animals in KY anyway. My vet does not have Confortis or Advantage or Advantix either. I am really interested if there is a Real Effective home remedy or over the counter solution. OR if there is a real Effective medicine I can give my little guys. Thank you.

  • While In Navy Bootcamp....?

I bought the Manual from Amazon so I am well prepared to study before leaving for Bootcamp in the Navy. I know I have to memorize several things and the best idea is begin now, so I am asking anyone who knows- what are the main things that the DI will generally stop and tell you to say? I know the General Orders and the Pledge are two, but there are many things in the book that they could make you memorize. Anything within reason will help. Thank you! God Bless America, even while we are in hardship

  • Extremely anxious about bootcamp?

I have just been told after a year and a half battle with the OOM and MEPS about getting into the Navy, that as soon as I pass my last doc test, which is inevitable, I will be taken to MEPS and pick job and time to leave. This is not a problem, but what I am anxious about is running. I know it sounds silly since I am more than physically fit, but I am really scared about it. Maybe it is because I am not a runner by nature, and this entire year and a half I have spent changing everything about myself to make it better and stronger; but then again, it could be that I have had to wait so long. Could anyone with a lot of knowledge about Navy bootcamp give me some insight as to what to expect? My recruiter has told me very little. I hear from some that the "running is pathetic and you rarely do it in boot" but then I have heard from a recent grad's wife that he ran all the time. I am just getting mixed answers and I don't want to be stunned when I get there all amped up and ready to run and then have an adrenaline drop because we don't run or swim. Just some insight as to what I have to be looking forward to would be fantastic.

I also am anxious about leaving my dog, who is my child basically. I know that I must leave him throughout boot, but how long must I wait until the military puts me in the position to take him with me? Please no smart answers, I just am asking because he is important to me. Thank you.

Thank you in advance for any helpful answers!

  • While In Navy Bootcamp:?

I am going into the Navy hopefully this year if all works out and a spot opens. My question is this: I take several vitamins every morning such as B complex, fish oils, potassium, and a multivitamin- since I do not know when I am going, when would be a good time to ween my body off of them? And, is there any way I can take any of the afore mention supplements while in bootcamp?

  • neuropsychiatrist question?

I had to see a psychiatrist yesterday as a requirement to get into the navy. Background info- i had a traumatic brain injury in 2001 and was on meds for anxiety all the way up to 2008 when we discovered that i never really needed the meds all along, it was the people who were helping me that had a difficult time with me changing. anyway, once he found out i had tbi and was on those meds years ago, he started acting almost bipolar. he did not act this way at first. He started asking me about my religion and about numbers and things. then he handed me a 401 question true/false questionnaire and i had to finish it before i could leave. i am just wondering if his prolonged stories about his personal life and his neverending changing tones were because he was trying to provoke me or if this was a joke. i am so confused because i have never been through this and neither has anyone else i know. please help if you have ever been through anything like this....thank you in advance!

  • Is it possible to gain 6-7 lbs in a weekend!?

I have asked this before of people, listened to their replies, but I think I have to hear it over and over for it to sink in. I am fighting weight and gaining muscle at the same time. I am doing this on my own. Meaning I have no real support and no real "cohort in crime" so to speak. This weekend has been extremely lazy, shopping, church, eating and regular housekeeping because it has been dreadful outside. I couldn't go to the gym all weekend, and my scales were at 139 Friday and early Saturday morning. This afternoon- Sunday, they said 145. Is it really possible that it is fat weight or could it be muscle in relaxation mode building. I have eaten nothing out of the ordinary and have actually lessened my sugar because this weekend was so boring. I don't feel bloated or swollen, but I feel so lazy and worthless because normally I am an extremely active individual. Is it just mind of matter, and the scales will be right tomorrow or even a pound heavier or am I really that fat again? Please don't be rude in replying. If you cant say anything worthwhile, then don't reply at all please. Thank you so much in advance!!!

  • Just wanting a consensus on this?

I have done some research on neurological evaluations trying to find out how much they typically cost before I decide on a doctor. I do not want to get tricked into paying more than I should so how much is a basic neurological evaluation usually? Thank you so much in advance!

  • My packet for the navy has been turned over to the Office of Occupational Medicine facility, outlook?

If my packet, with the help of a congressional letter, went to the St Louis MEPS and then got forwarded to the OOM, and my recruiter sounded more positive than he has in a while, what does the outlook seem to be?

  • How does a 53 year old man outdo his workout plateau? He needs help, but wont really ask.?

the man i work out with is 53, a retired master chief and has been my instructor (guide if you will) and has helped me immensely with losing weight and gaining lean muscle over the last 15-16 months. today he told me that he is the exact same weight he was three years ago. he is concerned because he has a very healthy diet and a very disciplined workout and lifestyle. just so i can help him maybe think of whats wrong, could someone give me any kind of insight? i mean this man is extremely strong and strict with his regiment. he was a senior master chief in the navy and he is extremely disappointed in his more current results. he does drink a lot of beer and whiskey but he always has and at one point was building, now not so much. please any insight you may have would be great...
