  • I'm a 17 year old boy and I have a crush on my 21 year old friend. Is that normal?

Keep in mind that I turn 18 in a couple of months. Anyways, a coworker of mine is 21 years old and after hanging out with her for a while, I have come to realize that I have fallen for her. She's really short, so when I first met her I just assumed she was 18 or 19 and didn't ask for her age. It wasn't until recently that I overheard her talking to another coworker that she's actually 21. Would it be weird to see her as something other than just a friend? I'm so confused because I feel like the age difference between us is too big.

  • How do I buy a smartphone?

Sounds like a dumb question, but hear me out. I'm 17, and ever since I got a job at a fast food joint I've been wanting to get myself a new phone with my own money. I currently own a cheap $50 Samsung that my mom bought for me, and I'm part of a family plan (Metro PCS) where the four members of my family pay a total of $100 for 4gb of data each, per month.

My question is if I wanted to buy myself a more expensive phone ($200 - $300), how would I go about doing this? Does the phone HAVE to be one of the ones Metro PCs has on display? What if I wanted to buy a used iPhone from somewhere else? Can I do that? How? Any info will be appreciated

  • Cashier tips for new fast food worker?

I'm a 17 year old boy that recently got employed at a Jack in the Box (burger place) as a cashier. Up until a few days ago all I did was clean and restock but on Tuesday two team leaders decided it was time to train me to be a cashier. First they brought up a training system that allowed me to mess around with the menu items and overall just get familiar with the cash register. The team leaders showed me how to remove stuff from burgers, how to add additional stuff, how to work with coupons, ebt, and credit cards plus other stuff. I felt extremely uncomfortable the first few times I actually took a customer's order but by the 10th customer i was starting to get the hang of it (sort of).I have to go back on Saturday though and I'm kind of nervous. Would anyone be willing to give me some tips or advice? How should I greet customers? What are some common things that happen while taking an order and how should I adress them? How should I give back money and what should I say after? Anything helps. Thanks

  • What does it mean if my boss doing this?

I'm a 17 year old boy that got employed at a Jack in the Box (fast food) about a week ago. I applied to be a cashier, and yes I understand that cashiers also have to help with other tasks but hear me out. The actual manager at my job is a guy called Jose but he's out temporarily and left another manager called Liz in charge while he's gone. I went in last Tuesday for my first day. Liz asked if I was the kid Jose had hired and I said yes, but Liz wasn't told about me coming that day, so Liz just gave me a tour of the place and in the end she had me sweep, clean the tables, take out the trash, and clean the windows and told me to come again on Wednesday. Wednesday, I went in, and AGAIN Liz had me clean the whole time I was there but this time I was able to bag some orders and hand them to customers. I was told to come back again on Friday and that I'd get cashier training that day but once again on Friday Liz had me clean the whole time because she had forgotten the her supervisor would visit our location. At the end of Friday Liz told me to come back again on Wednesday (2 days from now). I haven't gotten trained as a cashier and Liz is just telling me days when she wants me to come instead of assigning me a schedule and I'm afraid of telling her I can't come in on certain days because of school because i don't want her to think I'm unreliable and possibly give me less days. What do you think I should do? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • How to be more open and friendly as a fast food cashier?

I'm a 17 year old boy with social anxiety that recently got employed at a fast food joint. I suffer from social anxiety and interacting with people causes me great stress and fear but I have to work because I have to start helping my family out financially. My job requires me to welcome all employees with a loud and cheery voice and always have a smile, which are things that don't come naturally to me. How can I overcome this? Also, tips and advice for being a cashier would be appreciated. Thank you

  • At what time should I call my job to receive my schedule?

I'm a 17 year old that recently got hired at a fast food joint. I have my uniform and already went to orientation, all I need now is my work schedule so that I can know when to go in for training. My boss told me a few days ago to call my job today (sunday) and ask whoever is in charge for my schedule. At what time should I call? It's 11:15 as of right now. Also, what should I say? Thanks

  • Should I wear my uniform to a fast food orientation?

I called my boss yesterday and he said I should if i have it but multiple people on yahoo say I shouldn't and that I should wear regular clothes. Obviously if I were to wear it I'd only wear the pants and shoes because I don't have the t-shirt yet. What do you think?

  • Are canvas anti slip shoes acceptable for work?

I'm going to work at a jack in the box (fast food) and my boss already told me to get my uniform ready. I already bought the pants and belt, and the shirt will be given to me but I have doubts about my shoes. I ordered some anti slip shoes online that are made of canvas. Would they be suitable for me to wear in a fast food environment? Or would leather suit me better? Thanks

  • Did I get the job?

A week ago I walked into a fast food joint and asked if they were hiring. The manager said they were, and told me to fill out the online application. I went home and filled it out. I visited the restaurant again two days ago and told the manager i just wanted to check up on the status of my app. He asked for my name and then told me that as soon as he got someone to cover him, he'd take a look at my app and send me vial email a link so that i could fill out some documents. Eventually he did send them to me and i filled out some documents regarding myself, my salary/w4, taxes, and i had to read multiple terms of services about safety and sexual harassment. I told the manager i finished and then he asked me if i had my work permit application with me (I'm 17). i told him i did and i gave it to him to fill out. After that, an angry customer asked for him and he forgot all about me so I left. Do I technically have the job? What steps should I take after this? Why didn't I get interviewed? I was thinking i should give my school my work permit application, wait till they give me my actual work permit and then go back to the manager and give it to him. Thank you

  • I need help getting hired? What am I doing wrong?

I'm a 17 year old in need of employment. I've walked into many fast food joints and asked if they're hiring. Some of them flat out say no. Some say they are but that I have to fill out an application and turn it in. I do that and wait for about 2 weeks until I realize that I won't be getting called. Other places tell me that I have to apply online. I do that and again, no call. What am I doing wrong? I've expressed that I'm eager to work, I learn fast, and am willing to work a changing schedule. What else should I do? I need a job
